Apple TV+ has cancelled its 1960s-set comedy drama “Palm Royale” after two seasons. The series starred Kristen Wiig and explored the glamorous yet competitive world of high society in Palm Beach. Although the show gained attention for its style and storytelling, it will not return for a third season.

The streaming platform has not officially announced the cancellation. However, industry reports confirmed the decision. The news surprised many viewers who followed the show’s colorful characters and dramatic social rivalries.

A Stylish Drama with Award Recognition

“Palm Royale” first appeared on Apple TV+ as part of the company’s production lineup in 2024. Soon after its release, the series attracted critical attention. In fact, the show received 35 nominations across major awards, including the Emmys and Critics’ Choice Awards. It eventually won eight awards, mainly in craft and technical categories.

Despite those wins, the show did not secure major awards for acting, directing, or writing. Kristen Wiig, the lead actor, earned a nomination at the 2026 Actor Awards (formerly the SAG Awards). However, she did not win the category, which went to the late Catherine O’Hara for another Apple TV series, The Studio.

Story and Inspiration Behind the Series

The series drew inspiration from the 2018 novel “Mr & Mrs American Pie” by Juliet McDaniel. Creator Abe Sylvia adapted the story into a television drama that blended humor, ambition, and social satire.

At first, Apple TV+ ordered the show as a single 10-episode season. However, strong interest led the company to approve a second season in 2024. Over its run, the series produced 20 episodes in total.

The final episode aired on January 14, 2026, closing the story of Palm Beach’s elite social circles.

Why the Show Ended

Apple has not provided a clear reason for ending the series. However, industry analysts believe streaming performance likely influenced the decision. High production costs combined with moderate viewership often shape renewal choices in the streaming industry.

Still, fans can continue watching the show. Apple TV+ currently offers all episodes of “Palm Royale” on its platform.

Although the series has ended, its vibrant design, strong cast, and nostalgic setting helped it stand out in Apple’s growing collection of original shows.
