Apple’s long-rumored smart home hub has reportedly been delayed again. The company initially planned to launch the device earlier, but issues with upgrading Siri have pushed the timeline further. Now, reports suggest the device may arrive toward the end of 2026.
The delay highlights Apple’s struggle to modernize its voice assistant for the next wave of smart home technology. While the hardware appears ready, the software behind it still needs work.

Siri Upgrade Slows Apple’s Plans
According to reports, the key obstacle involves Apple’s effort to rebuild Siri for the new era of artificial intelligence. Apple wants the assistant to power its broader smart home ecosystem. However, progress on the upgraded version has taken longer than expected.
Earlier plans aimed for a spring 2025 launch. Later, Apple targeted March 2026. Yet the new Siri features remain unfinished, forcing another delay.
Sources say Apple may now unveil the device publicly in September 2026, assuming Siri’s new capabilities are ready by then.
Hardware Is Already Finished
Interestingly, the device’s hardware appears complete. Reports describe the product as a square display similar to a small iPad. The screen would sit on a speaker base shaped like a half dome. Alternatively, users could mount it on a wall using a magnetic system similar to MagSafe.
The device would include a seven-inch display and a USB-C power connection. Apple may also design the hub with a silver aluminum finish to match its other products.
The interface could display circular app icons similar to the layout used on the Apple Watch. This design would make it easier for users to control smart home devices.
Personalized Smart Home Experience
Apple plans to add facial recognition to the hub. The system could identify who is standing in front of the screen. It would then display personalized content such as calendar events, reminders, or music playlists.
Meanwhile, Apple continues to explore future smart home products. Reports mention a possible advanced model with a larger nine-inch screen mounted on a robotic arm. That version could arrive around 2027.
The company also works on new home security tools, including a smart doorbell. Together, these devices may help Apple expand its role in the connected home market.
