Apple is preparing to introduce Apple Intelligence in China, ending a two-year wait for iPhone users in the country.
On October 31, 2026, the company confirmed that its first AI features would enter open beta testing on November 4.

Apple originally introduced its artificial intelligence platform in 2024, gradually expanding availability across international markets.
However, Chinese users remained excluded because of regulatory requirements governing AI services.
Now, Apple is preparing to bring several core capabilities to the market.
AI Photo Editing and Visual Features Arrive
The initial release introduces several tools designed to improve photography and everyday tasks.
For example, the Photos application will offer Clean Up, allowing users to remove unwanted objects from pictures.
Additionally, users can create memory videos and search their photo libraries using natural language.
Visual Intelligence will also help users interact with information captured through their iPhone cameras.
Meanwhile, Apple’s smart emoji generation feature will allow users to create personalised emoji designs.
Together, these additions aim to make everyday iPhone interactions more convenient.
Writing Tools and Smart Replies Improve Productivity
Apple Intelligence will also introduce several features focused on communication and productivity.
Users can proofread, rewrite, and summarise text through Apple’s Writing Tools.
Furthermore, notification summaries will help users review important information more quickly.
Email summaries will provide shorter versions of longer messages.
Additionally, Smart Reply will suggest responses, reducing the time needed to answer messages.
The Notes application will gain audio transcription capabilities.
Similarly, supported phone calls can receive automatic transcriptions and summaries.
Consequently, users will have more ways to organise information and manage daily communications.
Siri AI Remains Unavailable at Launch
Despite these improvements, the initial Chinese release will not include Apple’s advanced Siri AI features.
The enhanced assistant became available in other markets during 2026.
However, Chinese regulations have complicated Apple’s plans to introduce similar capabilities locally.
Apple has worked with regional technology companies to meet regulatory requirements.
Additionally, the company confirmed that its AI services use generative models developed by Apple.
It is also collaborating with Alibaba to integrate Qianwen technology into Siri.
Nevertheless, Apple has not confirmed when the upgraded assistant will become available in China.
Full Release Expected in December
Apple plans to begin beta availability on November 4.
The company also expects to introduce the features more broadly through iOS 27.3 in December 2026.
However, the initial rollout will not provide every Apple Intelligence capability available internationally.
Ultimately, the launch represents an important step in Apple’s efforts to expand AI services across China.
The upcoming release will give Chinese iPhone users their first opportunity to experience Apple’s integrated AI tools.
