Freeware February: VoodooPad Lite

VoodooPad Lite

Like wiki? Then you’ll love VoodooPad Lite. VoodooPad is a wiki notebook that runs locally on your OS X Mac. Think of it as your own “personal hypertext library” in which you can easily work up and link notes, URLs, to-do lists, etc. Using a special syntax, you can automagically create links to new pages on the fly. You can also drag and drop text, folders, images, URLs, and applications right into VoodooPad.

If you already know how to use a wiki, you will already know how intuitive it is to interlink text and objects in this “new kind of notepad.” If you’re not familiar with wiki, VoodooPad Lite is a great introduction. The full version of VoodooPad has extra features and will set you back $24.95, but the VoodooPad Lite version is completely free - just enough to get you hooked!

Plus, who can resist a cool, undead icon?

I also use VoodooPad full edition. As high school student, I don't buy a lot of software, but VP was my first purchase! The Lite edition is great, but I can almost guarantee if you like the Lite one you'll LOVE the full one. But anyway, VP is amazing. I spent forever looking for my perfect organizational tool, and with VP I think I found it. While it may not be for everyone, I enjoy it. Download the Lite one, and try it, you might be surprised how much you'll like it.

If you are really interested in data organization, check out DEVONthink from http://www.devon-technologies.com/ -- truly software no researcher/scientist should be without. It works much much better then a wiki alone.

I'm really liking this app. I've been spending the past hour consolidating stickies and text files and bookmarked blog posts and I just can't get enough. This is one app I would actually pay for.

I've been using VoodooPad (not Lite) for a while now and I think it's really useful. Plus, the developer is a nice guy.
