Applications for Unix Switchers
We in the Mac web write a lot about switchers. Do they exist? Are there enough of them? Why are people still using
windows? However, with the advent of OS X there are actually two kinds of switchers, those who are seeking refuge from
Microsoft, and the free wheeling Unix geeks who appreciate a good user interface, but don’t like to be far from there
command lines.
Groovie.org has started a collection of Mac OS X Apps for Power Users and Unix
Switchers. Amongst the apps you will find:
And a few more. A good place to start to get some cool applications for OS X (and perhaps this post will guilt them into posting some more).

@Roger: I agree with the search templates. I didn't switch to QuickSilver until just recently when I found out how to do search templates. To get search templates in QuickSilver, there's several ways to go about it. There's a sogudi plug-in, safaristand plug-in, and built-in search templates from the Quicksilver site. My preferred method is to install SafariStand, install the Quicksilver SafariStand plug-in, then setup search templates in SafariStand. I'll post a comment under the Quicksilver entry outlining the steps, as this was definitely the feature that kept me from using Quicksilver for many months.

I'd been using LaunchBar for about a year before I heard of QuickSilver, so I thought I'd give it a try, since it's supposed to be more powerful. I switched back to LaunchBar after a 2-week trial of QuickSilver. Why? QuickSilver felt too complicated to me. I know it has more functionality, but I didn't really need all that. Also, I really missed being able to make my own web search templates (i.e. for Google or Dictionary.com).
