October 29 2005 at 4:40 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHi, I am having an odd problem downloading iTunes 5. I go to the download page but the space where the download button is supposed to be is blank. Something with my browser must be doing this - but what? If someone can help me clear this up I'd be grateful. I need iTunes for Windows XP. -- Grant

As it stands now every other app now has a different look: aqua, brush metal, platinum, and now whatever their calling itunes 5. For someone that works on UI design all day this can be a little annoying. So thank the gods for Iridium and Apple next update come on fix this.
September 12 2005 at 12:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's just a god damn UI redesign, it's the same thing we've putting up with for more than three years now. The visualizers still suck in large screens (17" is enough to make it look like horse crap) as they did in iTunes 1. Apple has done with it what it has done with most of their iLife apps: Giving them a two-feature bump to make the integer version number go up, but we still get the same unchanged app with a superficially different UI plus two useless things we don't need. C'mon, iTunes 4 was asort of big step, we've been stuck to it for more than two years, only to see a dumb and squarey facelift that you call iTunes 5? Where the f--k is the innovation, for Apple's sake??? They should've called it iTunes 4.95

This is the first real re-design of the interface that Apple has ever had, and I say they did a good job. I like all the new features, especially the ones under advanced in prefs. Playlist folders, finally!

September 09 2005 at 7:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI like it. I agree that it makes better use of screen real estate. As far as all the complaints about the volume slider... I can't remember the last time I adjusted the volume with that thing. I leave it set at 3/4 and make adjustments with the keyboard volume keys. I'm also impressed with the new search bar. My thought on the GUI variations. Apple's throwing these at us and reading all our comments. They will no doubt base all the apps in 10.5 on the most popular GUI. Mr. Jobs, if you're reading this, my vote is for this look. It's great!
