And here's the full-sized interface:

What do you think: hot or not?

To get an instant map to any address, just go to your Address Book and right click on the address field of any one of your contacts and select "Map Of." The address will then be revealed in Google Maps on Safari. You can do the same if a data detector determines there is an address in an e-mail in Mail.

I prefered the volume placement in 4. Other wise I think 5 looks much more slick.

Well, it's nice to say good bye to brushed metal, but silver plastic. No. I liked the previous interface colour. But other than that 5 is good. I wish we could have had more stuff updated, because to me this just feels like version 4.10, which to the punters is 5, by default. Still, not at all what we were expecting. Apple did it again!

I love it. Streamlined and elegant come to mind.

i like how there is a time scrolling thin on the mini player now. that was my biggest beef with itunes before. you have to maximize the view to skip around the song.
i dont like the looks of it now though. maybe it will grow on me.

At first I thought it was UGLY. But it's starting to grow on me. Give it a week or so.

I really like the new look, it feels very slick. The thing I like the best is that this probably is going to be the Finder new look.

I am glad that they seem to be pulling the interface of all the OS X apps together into this plastic theme rather than the aqua and the brushed alluminum. It was silly to have the two of them.

I absolutely love the new design.
However, nothing compares to one very simple little thing that should have been included in iTunes2: PLAYLIST FOLDERS. Duh.
Now instead of having a long list of over 50 playlists, I have 6 folders and everything is clean. THANK YOU Apple!

narco.

any radical change on a beloved app like iTunes is going to be met stiffly... I hated it when i first saw it, but I haven't used it yet. I think Thomas is right... let it grow, like a soft moss.

I totally love it, now to wait for my nano to arrive ;)

Hmm, it looks as if Apple noticed the inconsistancy between OS X Tiger and Mail.app and are slowly going to Mail.app-affy all the iLife suite to suit. Know what I mean?
I don't much like it. And - as he gets ready to test maxamising just incase it fixed iteself - it won't stretch! 5.0 and it doesn't fit my whole screen!

It's funny. There's very few outright changes to the main interface, but it does look much slicker to me. I've got two computers in my work station with 4.9 on one and 5 on the other. The most obvious changes are all in the color scheme and the square edging, and the top control area has been decreased slightly in size. I wish they'd do the same for the rest of the Tiger apps now.

It's me or it looks a lot like Mail 2?
(just posting in the right place this time)

I thought it was good even before the playlist folders. The extra space alone was good enough. Now that I know of them, I think that it's the best thing to come out for iTunes since the music store.
Great job Apple!

I agree with the volume slider being in the wrong place, but definitely HOT.

How do iPods deal with the playlist folders? They're such a great idea. I just hope my 2G works with them.

I like the blue background in the source area, and the smaller buttons add to the new streamline effect
