Funeral for the Powerbook

The Powerbook served the Mac faithful well for 15 years, and it is now time to say our goodbyes and lament the loss of this piece of computing history. Supr.c.ilio.us is holding a funeral for the Powerbook today in San Francisco at the House of Shields. Check out the Upcoming entry for more details.

I hate to break it to you guys, but the PowerBook is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Apple has taken it on a long drive.

Of course, when Apple picked the PowerBook up for this drive, it said it just "wanted to go for a ride and talk," but the PowerBook never came back from that drive.

It's time to start mourning.

Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, I, the supr.c.ilio.us writer who started this, am joking. The entire blog's a joke (but the partyfuneral's serious).

I didn't like this title, PowerBook is alive and will never die.

Steve, thanks for catching that! I fixed it. I think I need to fire my editor... oh wait that would be me.

I hate the name MacBook Pro. It sounds like a terribly sh*tty name for a computer from any company.

I'll never get rid of my 1400 and my Pismo now. I love them - and the name - better.

If I were in San Fran, I'd go.

I doubt that if we won't see PowerBook end by this end of year. Wait and see what happen in 2007 and we prove them wrong.

I refuse to believe that the PowerBook is dead. I hope that once the PowerBook G4 is phased out they'll get rid of the MacBook and release a proper, redesigned Intel PowerBook.

sigh.. there are too much serious people ...

of course it's _ridiculous_ , it's the point !
it's sad, it's fun, it's just a mourning for an old good computer :)

beside, it's a good reason to drink a beer once a time.

but, well, powerbook is still alive :)

Yes, it truly is a lose to have to retire this piece of computing histroy.

Though I think having a funeral for a piece of hardware is just ridiculous. It'd be like following Steve Jobs to his car to take pictures.
