Soundstream screen saver for parties
It's not explicitly for parties,
but it'd be fun if you're putting something goofy on the screen (instead of those old Duran Duran videos you've been
hoarding). Soundstream looks a little like Flurry, the very popular OS X screensaver with
gorgeous sweeping colors. But Soundstream monitors the audio input on your Mac, and pulses the flying, colorful, blurry
particles accordingly. It handles volume and pitch response, and provides decent control over the appearance of the
flying particles.

"monitors the audio input"
Here's an idea: Maybe monitor the audio output?
Does this mean it only works for karaoke parties mic'ed into my computer?
Seems like the natural idea would be to montor iTunes and dance accordingly. Mine just wanders around like two lost souls.

OK, OK... I just read the Soundstream FAQ:
"Soundstream consists of moving particles that bloom when the microphone picks up a loud noise."
Then later in the FAQ:
"Where's the iTunes visualizer?"
I'm working on it.
Ah well, at least it's got potential.

Yeah, I've been using this one for a little while now. It's replaced Flurry for me, though the RSS visualizer is my preferred one, but that one doesn't work everywhere (like places where there isn't an available connection). But everyonce in a while, I'll be blasting my music and just set my PB up somewhere and watch the screen dance.
