Store your MacBook remote on your display

Jealous of the iMac's ability to magnetically store your Apple Remote for safe keeping? If you're a MacBook owner, a macosxhints reader discovered that you can toss that jealousy and join your iMac Remote-storin' brethren. Apparently, the top left of the MacBook's display is magnetic enough to support and hold an Apple Remote.
I haven't tried this myself as I forgot to bring my remote out with me today, but I own a MacBook Pro so I'm not even sure if these machines have been endowed with the same abilities. Any other MBP owners out there try this out?

Yes, it seems to work just fine on my white MacBook. It looks somewhat funny, but it definitely works.

Doesn't work on my MBP. The magnets used just aren't strong enough to hold it.

This is a good tip, but I already read it a long time ago. I do use this to store my remote when watching movies, though.
Has anyone else's remote ran out of battery within a week of purchasing like mine did?

It does work, but only in certian positions. Its pretty easy to make it slip down in front of the screen.

you already posted this story over a month ago. I figured this out the first day... it's not really *that* useful as some of the time the remote slips down and scratches the screen underneath. Besides, what use is a front-row remote when you are using your laptop right in front of you? It's better suited for keynote presentations or when plugging in to an external monitor.

ya, that was the first thing i did when i got my macbook, playing around, "hey, maybe it could.... whoa cool!"
works on the right too, and also can look better in the corner, so it's on a 45deg with the right angle of the top corner.. but might cover ur apple menu or the search icon

The remote keeps falling and hitting my MBP's keyboard.

As with deevee, I have also been doing this from the first day I got my macbook. The lid of the macbook is magnetically held, so when open you can use them to hold the remote. I thought this was an obvious and old hint when I saw it somewhere a couple of months ago, this holds true today.

It won't work with Macbook Pros because they don't use a magnetic lid latch! Silly people.

I still think they should have a spring-loaded slot somewhere on the MacBook (and Pro) that stores the remote IN the machine. That would be wicked...

I was using my iBook the other day with a pair of bud headphones and found that the headphones attached to the bottom right edge of the screen.... Not useful because I am in the "dark ages" with my iBook and no remote, but interesting none-the-less.

well I had never thought to do it, as I haven't had my MacBook for a week... (one week tomorrow)
but it is fuuny looking but it works!, well duh...
And yes to the question, my remote has a low battery now, the computer keeps displaying that image when I use it..
But all you need is a pen and a new watch battery

This isn't even news. It's common sense. "Duhh.... what can I do with this here magnet on the top??? I have a remote that sticks to magnets but I just can't figure it out."
Come on TAUW, at least pretend you're not amateurs.
