AOL breaks Adium betas

If you're a user of the recent Adium 1.0 beta releases, and you've been having issues connecting to AIM, you're not alone. According to reports in the official IRC channel and from developers, AOL did something to change the connection protocol, specifically involving the new joscar connection protocol, connection rate limiting, and buddy icon requests. Users experiencing problems have three options:

1. Take a break! Enjoy your newly found freedom from the constant barrage of instant messages.

2. Use a web-based IM service such as meebo.

3. Replace your Adium beta with the older .89.1 build.

Note: AOL responds to the rapid connections this problem causes by locking out your account for a few minutes. The more you try and connect while you're locked out, the longer the lock stays.

for the past few weeks my AIM account in iChat has not been pulling buddy icons from wherever they are pulled from.
Unless the buddy is in my Address Book (w/associated icon), the buddy list in iChat is entirely the AOL man or the .Mac globe.

I was using Adium 1.0b8 for awhile with no problems - and I had a lot of AIM users with Buddy Icons on my list.

However I decided to change MY user icon one day and thats when it started. Really strange, but downgraded to v.89 with no problem.

Now it looks as if they just released 1.0b9 and fixed the joscar problems. I'm about to check it out.

yeah, i made a ticket describing how i keep getting kicked off of AIM. i keep trying again with each new build of 1.0, but none work. good to see other people are having the same issues, cuz for a while there no one was responding to my ticket.
