Mac Pro: the best Windows workstation available
If I weren't completely bedeviled with Apple's portables (I use both a MacBook and a MacBook Pro) I would a Mac Pro user. Richard Hoffman, writing for InformationWeek, has had his hands on a Mac Pro for 2 weeks and has one word to describe it: 'Wow.'That's good.
He goes on to say that this machine is the best Windows workstation available, whether you are using Parallels or Boot Camp.
So, Mac Pro owners out there, are you happy with your Mac Pro?

Very.
Except that the built-in Bluetooth is useless. It's range is so limited, it won't work with my BT Mighty Mouse, which is three feet away.
Fix the Bluetooth, Apple.

"I'm as happy as a little girl!"
All joking aside, I am in Quad 3Ghz Xeon heaven. Can't wait to add more RAM. Even under Rosetta Photoshop is great, video rendering screams, and everything else I throw at it is done without a hitch.

For the money people spend on it, I'd hope they wouldn't have buyer's remorse.
;)
Actually I'm jealous of all the cores in there...wish I could afford one.

Disgruntled:
I found this post to be very interesting. I am currently running an iBook G4, I will be getting a MacBook Pro next summer. I will probably never get a Mac Pro, at least not until I get out of college. Yet, I still find this interesting - people ask me all the time what kind of computer they get, and, now that I can recommend Macs without any compunctions (for people that must run Windows apps), they usually want an explanation. This is the first real review of a Mac Pro that I've seen.
If you don't like this story cluttering up your RSS feed, dump the feed. Or ignore the article. Don't post "I didn't like this" or "this isn't news" it's news to me, and I liked it. If every article had one (and only one) intended, interested reader, then that would be fine. If there were hundreds of articles per day that I didn't care about, that is fine. If I get fed up, I delete the feed.

I'm sure it's a fantastic system, but surely they could have put a little more effort into naming the thing.

No I am not happy with my MacBook Pro. I have had nothing but trouble with the first generation 1.83 ghz unit I have scornfully dubbed “The Lemon”. From expanding (and subsequently failing) batteries, malfunctioning keyboards and a fans, random failures to re-awake, and an operating temperature that makes it unbearable to the touch I am less than pleased. Perhaps the after spending yet another eight or so days in the shop and the replacing of the motherboard will help (so I have been assured). Not holding my breath but rather praying to whatever Apple god may be to make my lemon spontaneously explode and put it out of its misery…

Sorry but no this is not "the best Windows workstation available, whether you are using Parallels or Boot Camp." whilst Parallels still only lets you take advantage of a single core and no 3D.
Parallels is acceptable for a laptop/home use but crippling for a workstation.

I'm happy with both my MacBook Pro and my Mac Pro.
I think the Mac Pro is absolute genius. It's beautiful and it's FAST. That's what you pay for, right? It turns out its a good Windows box too, although I only use windows to show it off to people that it CAN run Windows.
I heard about the BT issue. Apparently it's a wiring problem that can be fixed if you google it or something. I would sugest calling Apple about it though to make sure.

I LOVE MY MAC PRO!! My only regret is not spending the extra money on the X1900XT video card so I can game on it...the 7300 is pretty weak. I've had a few minor issues with boot-up/sleep problems all of which have been fixed in the firmware update.
It's definitely more power than I need, although it's really awesome to have the ability to encode two 1080i HDTV files into H.264 AT THE SAME TIME and still have CPU power to spare for other multi-tasking...this thing is ultra-powerful. I still get IO bottlenecks which slow down the system when backup is running in the background and the hard drives are going full speed ahead.
I really think apple should come out with a less expensive Mac Pro using the Core2 processor in a dual core setup using the faster non-buffered ram. This setup would actually be faster in many tasks and significantly less expensive. If I had that choice I would have saved my money over buying the Quad Xeon.

I mean, Rol, please give me a break. 2 thoughts for you: 1) only comment about your MBP when the article in question is about MBPs and 2) in the future, wait a few months before adopting a brand-new product line...there are, inevitably, glitches in a new line, which was true of the MBP and the MB when they first came out. People who buy the first build know and maybe even enjoy the fact that there are bound to be a few issues. But true to form, Apple fixes these issues within a few months, the point at which people like yourself should buy one. Regardless of this however, you shouldn't post disgruntled thoughts about your MBP in the comments section of an article about the Mac Pro...they are fundamentally different machines that serve different purposes...
think before you post, people...

I'm going to point out that this article is about Mac Pro's not MacBook Pro's. There is a significant difference.

Also, don't be hating on the person who is having troubles with a Rev A model. It's not his/her fault that a product for sale is shitty. I mean, its a QA problem, and it's Apple's problem.
Yes, it usually is better to wait for bugs to be fixed, but it's not his/her fault there were bugs. You a buy a product because you expect it to be good enough to be sold, where in this case, it really wasn't

Got a MacPro first round and use it exclusively for Photoshop/Raw Processing/Album Design. Aside from a few tiny little glitches here and there with Bridge hanging and crashing, I have no complaints whatsoever. Would definitely recommend purchasing a MacPro over any G5 for those still riding the fence.
Oh, and the 30" Cinema Display is nice too!

I am super happy with my... nevermind, I can't afford a Mac Pro. I have an old powerbook. Its pretty sweet though. And I do have these 3 sweet 19 inch widescreen monitors surrounding me on my PC run Windoze. I hate Windows actually. I love my powerbook. But I jsut cant surround myself in screens with it. But it is cool to sit it in the middle and have 4 screens all playing different movies.

the main issue i have with mac pro is that its too damn expensive. oh how i dream to own a machine so incredibly powerful. but, not to say im not happy with my iMac G5.
and for all those people out there that are complaining that there are glitches and issues with their machines... seriously... do you think you could by a PC and get away without a single glitch?

I have been having a blast with my new Mac Pro.
It's well built, fast, and fun; and so far at least, it has been very reliable.
The Mac Pro is very easy to upgrade. I installed an extra hard drive and additional RAM as soon as I bought the machine. It took me about 2 minutes to install both.
I use Mac OS X and also run Windows in Parallels Desktop and via Boot Camp.
I don't have problems with BlueTooth reception, but I have noticed that the mouse and keyboard take a while (10-20 seconds) to be recognized when booting into Windows.
I posted unboxing pictures to my blog if anyone's interested.
