Snjr

First it was Snowfall, then LotsaSnow came to my attention, and now Snjór is the current snow related OS X app that has my eye (thanks to Sveinn). Snjór creates little snow like globes that float down your Mac's screen while you are using it (that is to say that this is not a screensaver, but rather an application that draws these little guys on your screen). You can set how many snowflakes fall, how fast they fall, and if you want them to accumulate on top of the active window (seen above).
Snjór is free and Universal, and the developer (the awesomely named Ninja Kitten) promises that the source will be available on December 24th.

(System Preferences->Accessibility)
Wow Evan... Bah Humbug... we get it!
I got the accumulation thing figured out now...
If you have checked for accumulation on window tops, and it still isnt working check this:
System Prefs - Universal Access - â Enable access for Assistive devices
Thanks to NK for the quick email response!
Cool, you can get Jessica Simpson to snow on your desktop?

December 22 2006 at 4:01 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyis it just me or does no one give a rats ass about this snowfall crap? You keep posting about snowfall, we get it! Really? You mean I can get a screensaver that looks like snow? WOW! It can snow over my desktop? Holy shit, damn I am glad I went mac! Wait, you mean this is on every operating system and has been for the past 10 years? Well I still think TUAW should devote at least 5 more posts to it anyways. Why stop at snow, why not post about every screen saver ever made?
Whats next, a post about jessica simpson, myspace and ponies?
OK, so I have the checkbox for landing on windows activated, but still, no accumulation. What gives? Am I missing something here?
December 22 2006 at 2:00 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFor the snowflakes to land on the window it has to be an active window, otherwise the flakes ignore it. When they pile up on the window and you then make that window inactive (such as clicking on your desktop) the flakes all continue falling.
Very cool.
(tried this on iBook and Intel iMac)
