DockArt: Change your iTunes icon to Album Art
DockArt is a nice little iTunes plugin that does something simple, and does it well. When installed it will change the iTunes icon in your dock to the album art of the currently playing track (assuming of course that it has album art). The developer is on the ball and recently released an updated version for iTunes 7. DockArt is a neat little toy that'll offers a very unobtrusive visual reminder of what's playing. Best of all it's a free download from developer Greg Weston, who requests donations for Fidelco.

That's tres cool.
Would be nice if there was a similar thing for Mail. So if you've got new mail, and you've an entry for that person in address book with a picture, you get that persons picture set as the icon.

I tried this once but didn't like it. The artwork looked completely out of place in the dock. It just needs tweaking a little bit though. If the art maybe had a small border and was rotated slightly then it might look ok.
Or....how about if the itunes icon was a link to your artwork and when you hovered over the itunes icon the artwork popped up with the current track info too? That might be nice.

It sounds cool until you see it. It throws the dock into a chaotic mess of horridness. :s
Now, how amazing would it be if the CD in the iTunes icon changed to match the disc’s artwork? That would be some feat. Practically impossible though.

Okay, as of now DockArt lets you choose to skew the image used for the dock tile, so it fits in more with Apple's icon guidelines. And I'll see what I can do about that Mail idea.
"Chaotic mess of horridness?" Sheesh. Some people like it. ;)

The skewing & resizing looks great, Gregory! Thanks for that.
