Microsoft wants to give you a MacBook Pro
Q. "What's the perfect gift for a long-term commitment?" A. A MacBook Pro tinted the color of an Office for Mac icon.Microsoft is running a pretty cool giveaway right now called Mac Office Loves You. The prize is none other than a 2.53Ghz 15" MacBook Pro with custom PMS cover and a copy of Office 2008 for Mac.
To enter you must be a registered account holder of Twitter.com. You can enter one of two ways:
- Follow @officeformac, or
- Retweet @OfficeforMac and include the hashtag #officeformac. Only one retweet will be counted per person.
What's the reason for the giveaway? Just because, apparently. "Microsoft Office for Mac loved the Mac community since way back when,'' the site states. Or perhaps they're trying to clear out all their copies of Office for Mac 2008 to make room for the new version. Either way, it's a pretty sweet giveaway. Let us know if you win!
Thanks to reader Edsel for the tip!

"1 packaged retail copy of Office 2008 for Mac will be included with each MacBook Pro awarded."
It's preloaded with the option to not use Microsoft code at all!
I'm sorry that I have to ask, but as I am not a big twitter user, I do not know what "Retweet @OfficeforMac and include the hashtag #officeformac" means. Can somebody give me step by step instructions as to what I'm supposed to do? Thanks!

At least this is easier than that #moonfruit crap last summer.
They could paint a Windows ME logo on it for all I care...it's a MBP :) Yes, please!

Now that's what I call price dumping: selling your stuff for minus 1000$. And without a chance for aftersales. :-)
Mac Office clearly loves me. Every time it starts it needs to download hundreds of MB of patches.
I don't love it, though. Slow and cumbersome. I prefer TextEdit, then iWork, then OpenOffice, before going to MSOffice as the last resort.
So two winners yet there are four MBPs. What do they plan on doing with the other two?

The image on Microsoft's website even matches the same angle and perspective as the one on ColorWare's website.
I'd say Microsoft are giving away two ColorWare 15" MBP's with a custom PMS (Pantone Matching System) tint matching one of the Office icons and Microsoft Office logo.
Don't attack me for saying this, but that shade of blue is my favorite color. I had an iBook that I painted that color, and I loved it! I'm sure that the Office logo can be removed either by using rubbing alcohol, or by covering it with some stickers.
