According to recent rumors, Apple is getting ready to make major modifications to the HomePod mini and AirTag in their upcoming releases. Although several chipset generations are anticipated for the upcoming HomePod mini, the AirTag 2 may have even more advancements in store.

Last month, there were rumors that Apple was going to release a new AirTag and HomePod small. As a result, both Apple and independent dealers continue to carry the current HomePod Mini and AirTag. Nevertheless, MacWorld asserts that it has acquired fresh perspectives on both product lines prior to their unavoidable updates.

On the one hand, it is reported that the upcoming HomePod mini will have a single, significant update that should lead to several advancements. The Apple S10 chipset seen in the Watch Series 11 (now $329 on Amazon) is reportedly going to replace the Apple S5 chipset that powers the current HomePod small devices. Consequently, WiFi 4 connectivity and a memory increase to 2 GB of RAM should be included in the forthcoming HomePod mini.

It looks like the upcoming AirTag 2 is going to get quite a few upgrades, with more than five changes expected. MacWorld reports that Apple has made Precision Finding, which helps you track down a lost AirTag using ultra-wideband tech, much better. They also say Apple has improved battery life estimates so much that they’re bringing that feature back to the AirTag 2, after it was taken out of the first version due to being unreliable.

On top of that, the AirTag 2 is thought to have an easier time connecting and setting up with an iPhone. It also seems like the next AirTag will have fewer connection issues than the first one, especially in crowded places. Lastly, Apple is expected to include an ‘Improved Moving’ feature to make sure the location is super accurate when your AirTag is on the move, like in a car or with someone. Right now, it’s believed Apple is aiming to release both these devices sometime in the first half of 2026.
