Apple’s upcoming budget MacBook could arrive in bright new colors. However, these shades are not entirely new. According to recent reports. Apple first explored blue, green, and yellow finishes for the 2022 MacBook Air powered by the M2 chip.

At the time, Apple chose safer options: Silver, Starlight, and Space Gray. As a result, the bold colors never reached customers. Now, leaks suggest Apple may finally bring those vibrant choices to market.

A post on the Chinese social platform Weibo by well-known leaker Instant Digital claims these colors have been in development for years. Although the leaker did not explain why Apple changed direction in 2022, he described the new lineup as looking “fresh.”

A Shift Toward a Younger Audience

Earlier leaks from October 2021 also hinted that Apple planned a more colorful MacBook Air. Those rumors suggested design changes similar to the colorful iMac models. In addition, some reports mentioned off-white bezels and keyboards. Yet those features never appeared in the final product.

Now, Apple seems ready to revisit the idea. If true, the colorful MacBook could target students and younger buyers. Bright finishes often appeal to users who want personality in their devices.

Budget Focus With Strong Performance

Beyond colors, the upcoming MacBook aims to compete with affordable Windows laptops and Chromebooks. Reports suggest a price range between $599 and $799. That pricing would make it one of Apple’s most accessible laptops.

To lower costs, Apple may use the iPhone’s A18 Pro chip instead of an M-series processor. The company may also include a smaller display than the 13-inch MacBook Air. Even so, Apple has not confirmed final specifications.

Launch Timeline

Apple is expected to host media events on March 4, 2026. Industry watchers believe the new budget MacBook could headline the announcement.

If Apple moves forward with these colorful options, it may mark a clear shift toward a more playful and competitive laptop strategy.
