Apple has announced a creative partnership with the Sydney Opera House that will showcase digital artwork made on the iPad. The collaboration aims to inspire young artists while highlighting the power of digital creativity tools.
As part of the project, Apple will invite people to create artwork using the iPad. Selected designs will then appear as large projections on the famous sails of the Sydney Opera House. This initiative marks the beginning of a year-long collaboration focused on arts education and youth engagement.

Apple says the program reflects its long-standing goal of helping people express creativity through technology.
iPad Artwork to Light Up an Iconic Landmark
The most visible part of the partnership will arrive later in March 2026. A special digital artwork project called “Illuminating Creativity” will transform the Opera House into a colorful display.
From March 25 to March 27, a series of static and animated artworks will appear across the eastern Bennelong sails of the landmark. These visuals will showcase digital art created on the iPad, demonstrating how modern tools can expand artistic expression.
Apple has already commissioned several emerging Australian artists to produce pieces for the event. Each artist created their designs using Procreate on the iPad, a popular digital illustration app.
Public Invited to Join the Creative Project
Apple is also encouraging the public to participate. Between March 9 and March 15, artists and aspiring creators can submit their own artwork for consideration.
Additionally, Apple stores will host Today at Apple sessions to teach participants how to create digital art using iPad tools. These workshops aim to help beginners learn new techniques and give experienced artists a chance to refine their skills.
According to Apple executives, creativity remains central to the company’s mission. Apple’s senior vice president of marketing emphasized that the company has spent decades developing tools that help people imagine and share their ideas.
A Year of Arts Programming Ahead
The projection event represents only the first stage of a broader collaboration. Apple will support arts programming at the Sydney Opera House over the next 12 months.
Later in 2026, the venue will host a new international children’s festival, where digital creativity will play a major role. The partnership also aims to introduce young people to creative technology and inspire future artists.
Ultimately, Apple hopes the initiative will show how modern tools can transform artistic expression. By combining digital creativity with one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, the project brings technology and culture together in a powerful way.
