Apple TV is strengthening its position in the thriller genre with a new spy series starring James Marsden. The streaming platform has picked up Disavowed, an upcoming drama centered on espionage, betrayal, and survival.

Marsden will not only lead the series but also serve as an executive producer. The move adds another major title to Apple TV’s growing catalog of prestige dramas.

A CIA Agent Turned Fugitive

Disavowed follows Brad Griffin, a CIA agent whose career collapses during an international mission to track a dangerous assassin. According to Apple, Griffin is suddenly fired in the middle of the hunt, even as the killer remains at large.

The story becomes even more personal because the assassin murdered Griffin’s partner. As a result, Griffin launches his own mission for justice. However, he now faces a major obstacle—the CIA itself.

A reported $15 million bounty on his head raises the stakes further, transforming the former agent from hunter to hunted.

Creative Team Behind the Series

The show comes from writing and producing duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. The pair previously worked on major Hollywood projects including Iron Man and Men in Black: International.

Blue Marble, the production company behind Apple’s critically praised Pachinko, will also produce the project. Therefore, expectations for production quality are already high.

The series appears designed as an ongoing franchise rather than a one-season event. That suggests Apple sees long-term potential in the concept.

James Marsden’s Growing Apple Presence

Marsden continues building a strong relationship with Apple TV. He currently appears in Your Friends & Neighbours, expanding his visibility on the platform.

His involvement in Disavowed may help attract both thriller fans and viewers already familiar with his recent work.

Apple’s Bigger Streaming Strategy

Apple has steadily invested in high-profile drama series, especially science fiction and suspense. Shows like Slow Horses helped establish its reputation in the thriller space. Consequently, Disavowed fits naturally into that strategy.

No release date has been announced yet, and production timing remains unclear. Still, Apple appears committed to keeping suspense fans engaged with fresh, star-driven storytelling.
