A new rumor has offered an early look at the iPhone 18 Pro’s battery capacity. According to a recent leak, Apple’s next-generation flagship may include only a small increase in battery size compared to the current model.

While Apple usually improves battery performance with each new release, this report suggests the physical battery upgrade could be modest. However, the phone may still deliver longer battery life thanks to improvements in its processor.

Battery Capacity Shows Minor Growth

The leak claims that the U.S. version of the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a 4,288 mAh battery. In comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro reportedly includes a 4,252 mAh battery. That represents an increase of less than 1%.

The Chinese version of the device, which still includes space for a physical SIM card, is expected to have a 4,056 mAh battery. This version would see a slightly larger increase over its predecessor.

Although the numbers appear small, battery capacity is only one factor that affects overall battery life.

A20 Chip Could Make a Big Difference

The biggest improvement may come from Apple’s upcoming A20 processor. Reports suggest the A20 will be Apple’s first chip built using a 2-nanometer manufacturing process. This technology could significantly improve power efficiency.

As a result, users may experience longer battery life even if the battery itself grows only slightly. The new chip could also deliver performance gains of between 10% and 15%, according to industry reports.

Potential Impact on Pricing

The report also notes that producing the A20 processor may cost Apple much more than previous chips. Some estimates suggest manufacturing expenses could nearly double compared to the A19 processor.

Because of these higher costs, some analysts believe Apple could raise prices on future iPhone models. However, Apple has not confirmed any pricing or hardware details.

For now, the information remains a rumor. Still, the leak suggests Apple may focus more on efficiency improvements than major battery size increases when developing the iPhone 18 Pro.
