Siri AI may become far more flexible than a traditional digital assistant. Newly discovered code references suggest Apple has built support for alternative AI models, including ChatGPT and Claude.
The references appeared in recent iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate betas. According to the report, developer “pdfu” also demonstrated Claude operating through the Siri AI interface.
However, these capabilities remain private and are not currently available to regular users.
Claude Could Work Inside Siri AI
The code reportedly includes private hooks that allow apps to add Siri Extensions. They can also connect third-party models to Siri AI’s server backend.
This approach expands on Siri’s existing ChatGPT integration. Since 2024, users have been able to send certain unanswered Siri requests to ChatGPT. However, the newly discovered system appears much broader.
For example, Claude or ChatGPT could appear within Siri’s “Ask…” menu. The report says the system uses the Model Delegation API in App Intents. Claude’s responses can then appear within an interface resembling Siri AI.
Siri Could Still Handle Personal Tasks
Importantly, Claude would not necessarily take over every function. If a request involves a system action, such as setting an alarm, Claude can reportedly hand the task back to Siri AI.
Therefore, Siri could retain access to personal information and system controls. Meanwhile, users could turn to another AI model when it performs a particular task better.
This setup could give iPhone and Mac users more choice without removing Siri’s deeper connection to Apple devices.
ChatGPT Could Play an Even Bigger Role
The report also describes code suggesting a more extensive option for ChatGPT. It could potentially become the default system for AI requests rather than simply acting as a Siri extension.
Moreover, the demonstrations appear to run on a Mac. The report says the hidden functionality seems operational, although Apple has not made it publicly accessible.
For now, the code does not guarantee that Apple will release these options. Still, it suggests Siri AI may have been designed with flexibility in mind, potentially allowing users to choose which AI model works best for them.
