Canva has officially launched its redesigned Affinity app for iPad, bringing professional creative tools to Apple’s tablet users.
The November 2, 2026 release follows the company’s major Affinity overhaul for Mac in 2025.

Previously, designers working across Mac and iPad faced compatibility problems because the updated desktop software could not work with older versions.
However, the new iPad release resolves this issue and allows users to adopt the latest Affinity platform.
Additionally, Canva now offers Affinity under one name across Mac, Windows, and iPad.
One App Combines Three Creative Tools
The redesigned application combines the capabilities of three popular creative programs.
These include Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher.
Consequently, users can switch between illustration, image editing, and document publishing within one application.
Canva says the iPad version delivers the same professional features available on Mac.
Furthermore, the unified interface makes it easier to manage projects involving different creative tasks.
Designers can create illustrations, edit photographs, and prepare publications without switching between separate applications.
Apple Pencil and Touch Controls Improve Creativity
Canva has introduced several improvements specifically for iPad users.
When launching Affinity, users can choose whether they prefer touchscreen controls or Apple Pencil input.
Additionally, the application includes a new Sketch Studio for freehand drawing.
These features support illustrators and designers who prefer working directly on a tablet.
Meanwhile, the updated interface maintains the professional editing capabilities associated with Affinity’s desktop software.
Free Access With Optional Premium Features
Affinity remains free for individual users, making professional design tools more accessible.
Importantly, users do not need a paid subscription to access its core creative capabilities.
However, Canva offers optional premium features, including AI tools and templates.
Canva Pro costs $18 per month or $143.99 annually.
Meanwhile, business subscriptions for Affinity cost $250 per year.
Therefore, individual creators can use the application without purchasing additional services.
Compatible iPads and System Requirements
Affinity requires iPadOS 18 or later.
The application supports seventh-generation iPads, fifth-generation iPad minis, and third-generation iPad Air models or newer.
Additionally, it works with all 11-inch iPad Pro models and supported 12.9-inch and 13-inch versions.
Users can download the application directly from Apple’s App Store.
Ultimately, Affinity’s arrival gives iPad users a powerful creative workspace while improving compatibility across devices.
The launch also strengthens Canva’s position in professional design software.
