Apple TV has reached a major awards milestone after collecting 29 wins at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. The result made it the year’s most-awarded network for the second consecutive year. Moreover, the service became the most-awarded streamer in Emmy history.
Apple entered the main ceremony with 20 awards from the earlier, largely technical categories. However, several high-profile victories pushed its final total even higher.
‘Widow’s Bay’ Delivers Historic Run
Widow’s Bay dominated Apple’s results with 14 Emmy wins. The comedy claimed Outstanding Comedy Series and several major acting honors. Matthew Rhys won Lead Actor, while Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root earned supporting awards.
The series also secured directing, writing and guest actress honors. In addition, it won awards for production design, casting, cinematography, music and sound.
According to the report, Widow’s Bay set records for the most wins by a freshman comedy and a comedy in one season. It also recorded the most performance wins of any series in 2026. Meanwhile, Hiro Murai’s directing victory marked another historic milestone.
Rhys also had an exceptional night. Alongside his Widow’s Bay honor, he won Lead Actor in a Limited Series for Netflix’s The Beast in Me.
‘Pluribus’ Adds Six More Wins
Pluribus strengthened Apple TV’s showing with six awards. Rhea Seehorn won Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while Vince Gilligan received the drama writing prize. The series also earned honors for production design, editing, title music and sound mixing.
Elsewhere, Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Palm Royale each collected three awards. Slow Horses won for drama directing, while Mr. Scorsese took Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.
Apple TV Reaches Milestone in Seven Seasons
Perhaps most notably, Apple TV achieved its record only seven seasons after launching in 2019. The report describes it as the fastest streaming service to reach this Emmy milestone.
Apple TV programming chief Matt Cherniss credited the achievement to the storytellers behind the platform’s productions. Ultimately, the 29-win haul signals how quickly Apple TV has built a significant presence in television awards.
