We all know the big ticket items are Spotlight, Quicktime, and Safari RSS but there smaller changes have me really excited:
- Print a handy pocket address book from Address Book
- Applescript Utility to enable GUI scripting, manage folder actions, and control the system Script menu
- Create and parse SQLite databases using Applescript
- A new Dictionary application
- Spotlight integrated with Open/Save panels
- Spotlight command line tools
- Currently playing track in iTunes set in your iChat status
- Brand new desktop pictures exclusively for Tiger users

The calculator in Panther already has scientific functions. Octal and hexadecimal are in there, go to the View Menu and hit Advanced, also look under Display Format in the View Menu to see the options for Octa, Hex, etc
I'm not sure about the Reverse Polish Notation though, I have no idea what that is :(

Panther's calculator actually has even more. Go show the package contents of it and look in the Resources directory - there's a few plugins sitting there. Move them out of the Resources directory and into the Plugins directory. I have no idea why they're hidden, but they are there.
Anyway, I already have Tiger (yay seeds), but one of the tiny little features listed on that page that I'd sure like to have, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get working. I'm just hoping that it's simply broken/disabled in the seed I have (since I don't have GM). And no, I'm not going to list the feature.

PDF annotation.
This is what's going to make my transition from my lovely tablet PC to my (hopefully even lovelier) powerbook possible. I use my tablet a lot for commenting on student essays by email, and am hoping that I'll be able to use this to do the same on the Mac.
Hopefully the annotation will be as good as (preferably much better than) what comes with the full version of Acrobat...

Core Data and the metadata model -- because together with other system components they make me hope/pray we'll see a "Pro" version of iPhoto that will run well on a Tiger machine and handle a reasonable number of images (100,000 and up). That would be enough to justify Tiger for me.
Apple, please take my money! Please! :-)

The updates to Preview are awesome. JPEG2K, DNG, and RAW support. Also, while not the greatest changes but any improvement to Font Book is welcome.
I saw Paul Thurrot's "review" of Tiger earlier (that man needs to be hit with a bat). He referred to Core Image and Core Data as not being very useful for the average user. Obviously he's a twit but I think the new "Core" APIs will bring about significant changes for the way we work with our Macs. Not just in the way Apple provides for them but in the way 3rd party devs will use them.

Address Book: public certs are listed
Mail: HTML, Smart boxes

burnable folders
command line tools that respect resource forks
Power Preferences: more options and improved efficiency

My most anticipated new small features of Tiger are:
- Finder Slideshow
- iChat and iTunes Integration (not useful, but fun)
- Safari & iPhoto integration
- Spotlight Support for Network homes
- Mail and iPhonto integration (saves work!)
- new mail user interface
- photo controls in Mail (so i dont have to prepare photos prior to sending mail)
- slideshow in mail (finally! what a hassle it was to look through 20 photos someone sent one by one)
- smart mailboxes
Oh, and does someone know if Tiger will feature thumbnail views in finder of image files? (basically like in iPhoto, but in finder so i can browse images i need e.g. for dreamweaver or other apps)...

- More powerful calculator (scientific functions, octal and hexadecimal, Reverse Polish Notation)
- Mail UI changes. I'm not so sure about the new toolbar style, but I like having the folder tree inside the window, instead of hanging off the outside.
- Burnable folders. This reminds me of the way Windows handles burners. Right-click a file, select "Send To|CD-RW Drive (E:)", or just drag it to the burner drive, and Windows places the file in a staging area until you're ready to burn.
- iCal/Address Book Birthday Calendar.
@Peter: 10.3 already has a thumbnail view in Finder. Look in View Options. I don't remember the exact wording of the checkbox, but I think it says something like "Preview files".

Ah, you're right. (I'm a recent "switcher". Can't you tell?) I was going by the linked Tiger features page. They probably mean that Advanced view will be the default now that there's a Dashboard widget for the simple view.
