Why is everyone always down on Expose?

exposeThis is just a commentary, that I've been avoiding posting about for a while, but since it's a slow news day I thought I'd share. I've noticed that a lot of people in the comments to posts seem to note that they hardly ever use Expose. Why not? It is perhaps one of my favorite OS X features since its release with Panther. All I have to do is mouse to the bottom left corner of my screen to show all open windows, mouse to the bottom right to move them all out of the way and peak at my desktop, and mouse to the top left to see all the windows of the foremost app. All of this is definable through the Expose control panel in System Preferences. Do you hate / love Expose? Anyone out there feel indifferent?

Expose is one of the best things about OSX. The part I use most is F11, which hides all windows and lets me see my crowded desktop. I frequently find PC using clients (and pre 10.3 Mac users) oohing and ahhhing when they see Expose in use. I haven't noticed anyone bashing Expose

Similar topic: I found a way to cause Dock to stay hidden until called upon. From MacAddict magazine 8/05 issue, use this Terminal command to move dock to top of screen: defaults write com.apple.dock orientation top ...then Option+Command+D to cause Dock to auto-hide. However, moving your mouse to the top of the screen will *not* activate the Dock to appear...so you have to use Option+Command+D to get it back.

well, I know I use it constantly... I don't even know how I managed to drag files around between programs before when Mac OS X lacked it... it's just perfect. At work I have to use windows, and it's always a drag to change between windows.

I LOVE EXPOSE!! I use expose every couple of minutes. When I am working with a bunch of pictures in photoshop it is essential. I used the expose preferences to add the expose features to my 5 button mouse. However, When I am on my laptop I find that I don't use it nearly as much. I think that if it is available from the mouse that it becomes second nature, but not when you have to use the function keys.

The worst part of Expos蠷as that if you were in All windows mode you had to enter the Application mode first, but now you can start with All windows, and if they're too many, you can still Command-Tab to enter Application mode, between the different applications...

I use it all the time. I copy links from web pages all the time, but my windows take up the hole screen. I just click and drag the link, then mid-drag, I press f10 to make them all move to the side, then drop it in a folder. I use this for viewing a link, too. If you just double click a link, it opens it up in it's own window. If I use expose, I can drag it into a new tab. This is very useful for me.

It turns out that I'm a full-fledged moron that just committed the epitome of "user error." As of this morning having used it all morning, I love it! Way to be a dingdong, Andrew!

I love Expose. Unfortunately, since I switched to a dual monitor set up at work, it's far less convenient for me to use my hot corners. I have noticed a bigger problem though with my Expose/Dashboard hotkeys becoming unlinked to their functions since I installed Tiger. Every few days I hit F12, get no response and then find that I have to head back into System Prefs and reattach the key bindings. Does anyone else have this problem?
