Since everyone (okay, two people) complained about the podcast being too quiet last time, we made this one overly loud. Get ready to turn down those volume knobs, everyone!

Nice podcast guys, i enjoyed it.
But do you really think Apple's use of iTunes to load photos into the iPod photo is because they think it's a hot app and they want you to use it? How about the fact that there's no iPhoto for windows? Or the fact that every-time you plug your iPod in both iTunes and iPhoto would have to launch (and 25,000 photos would have to load)?
I think the current solution sucks just as much as you guys, but i seriously doubt apple did it because they want you to use iTunes.

I agree with Oliver about setting iPod Photo Prefs in iTunes has to do with Windows users.

Logan, do you actually want the prize?
Oliver, yes, I do. I think the Windows compatibility gives them an easy out, but why not make an iPhoto for Windows? They want to drive as many as people to the iTMS as possible.

Alright so when I heard the podcast I got this idea and this seemed like the best place to throw it out there
What about instead of a dumbed-down version they wrote a bootable demo of OS X for intel chips and offered them free or free with the purchase of an iPod or something, that allowed windows users to boot to OS X and try it out on their Windows PC and get them hooked on it so they want to go out and buy a mac
just an idea

Dug the podcast guys, thanks. When's the next one? :)
I think iphoto for Windows would be a bad idea.
1. It is a draw for people to switch. If the Windows users already had all the great Mac software rocking on their boxes it would not be as compelling to switch.
2. I think iphoto is one of the weaker apps for Mac right now. Those loading times are killing me and I only have around 3000 photos. It would probably perform even worse on most of the Windows machines in the wild out there right now.

How about an RSS feed with Enclosures, so this can be a legitimate "Podcast". As it is, it is really just an audio file. Feedburner.com can make this very easy for you.

The reason Mac doesn't use iPhoto for iPod Photo preferences is because iTunes is free and comes with every iPod, while iPhoto can only be purchased with iLife. There are many people who do not have iLife that are Mac users, let alone every Windows user with an iPod photo. Imagine how much complaining there would be if everyone who purchased an iPod Photo had to also purchase iPhoto to set their preferences. Not a good idea.

Hi guys,
I really don't want the prize. I just wanted to see if I could be the first.
Thanks, logan

hawks5999, our in house blogging software doesn't support RSS enclosures as of yet (at least not the version that runs TUAW), however it is high on the list of things that gotta get done, so fear not.
Henry, control click on the link in the post and save the MP3 to.. well where ever you would like it to be.

Henry, dude, I have a family to feed! Ok, I don't but I do have bills to pay. If someone offers me a job admining Macs I would take it, but no one has so Windows it is for me.

If Scott moves to New York, I'll gladly hire him to support Macs full time under the MacSamurai Consulting umbrella:) With everything going on in my life these days, I could certainly use the extra help! The benefits suck but the pay is pretty damn good and I hear the boss is a joy to work for :)
