iTunes 4.9 Tomorrow?

itunes_logoFile this under completely unsubstantiated rumors, but Dave Winer over at Scripting News has been listening to the grapevine whilst in the Bay Area and it is talking about Apple, however this is something other than the July 7th event. Dave says that Tuesday (tomorrow?) will be a big day for iTunes and podcasting.

Assuming that iTunes 4.9 will be released is the easy part, but who is this big corporate sponsor Dave talks about? Only time will tell, but I'm being to really like new music Tuesdays as Apple's products become tied in closer and closer with the music industry.

I kind of hope Apple releases some new iPods as well. I just sold my 60GB iPod photo in favor of a 6GB mini (fell victim to the "cute" factor), so this would be an excellent time to get all that storage I (quickly realized) that I needed. Fishes, narco.

I'm pretty sure this could have to do with what french paper "Le Figaro" was announcing last friday : http://www.lefigaro.fr/eco-medias/20050624.FIG0187.html?224107 In that case, the big corporate sponsor would be Motorola and the object of the announcement would be an "iPhone", well integrated to iTunes... I was surprised to read about this on french mac-related blogs but none of the US ones... So this could just be a joke... =)

"Big corporate content partnership," it said. Hmmmm, this sounds open-ended enough to be news, entertainment or both. It could be Audible, which just announced availability of content including the Wall Street Journal and Charlie Rose. http://www.macobserver.com/article/2005/06/27.1.shtml I'm guessing it's something different or additional, though; when Apple announces something, APPLE does the announcing. I'm guessing it will be one of the congloms that has a news unit and movie/TV properties like Universal NBC, Viacom or Disney.
