Apple posts QuickTime video of today's event

I think our chatcast was much more interesting, but if you just want to see what Steve was wearing this morning (i'll give you one guess) in San Jose, or you've got a crush on Phil Schiller, there's a QuickTime stream available now on Apple's site. If only they'd streamed it while it was happening!

Here's a screengrab I took of Steve demo'ing some of the cool Photo Booth effects. I think I'm going to like this :)

photobooth effect steve jobs nose

Thanks, Jakob!

Just install the dev tools and launch quartz composer. You can do everything photobooth does. It's just a showcase for CoreImage in Tiger (and the supplied Core Image Units). Of course having this nice little app in standard would be a plus. Even for someone who doesn't have an integrated camera it would be excellent if the first time you connect your new iSight or third party webcam you were welcomed to it by photobooth.

I think that the reason they don't do so(stream the event while it's happening) is due to bandwidth. They couldn't even handle the bandwidth afterword, while people are trying to d/l iTunes 6, checking out the store, checking out ITMS, checking out videos with their high file sizes through ITMS, etc. Do you think they'd be able to handle the entire mac world all trying to stream video? What we could use is distributed downloading for streaming stuff. Format of the stream wouldn't matter; just take what you get and shove it back out.

Hmm.. You guys know that that can be done in Quartz Composer pretty easily.

You kid about what he was wearing, BUT if you will notice it isn't what he normally does . . . ok ok I'll tell you, no jeans and a black shirt, but black pants and a black shirt!!

You spelled it wrong. Photo Booth is Apple's software, Photobooth is a different piece of software by a different company. Try searching for both on Apple's web site, you'll see what I mean.

Looks like Photobooth effects are based on the same source code as Steve's Reality Distortion Field.
