New Colorado Apple Store confirmed

It looks like an Apple Store may be headed to Flatiron Crossing in Broomfield, Colorado. According to Colorado publication The Daily Camera, a spokesperson for the mall at Flatiron Crossing stated [subscription required] that Apple has indeed signed a lease for a 3,231 square-foot retail space. The lease also includes an option for Apple to open a location at the still unopened Macerich’s Twenty Ninth Street mall. A quick look on Apple's job listing webpage did not yield any information, however.

This news comes at the same time as rumors for a new Apple Store in the SmithHaven Mall on Long Island in Lake Grove, NY. Thanks TUAW reader [Lorgio].

The Boulder Apple store is confirmed. It will open this Fall when Twentyninth Street opens.

My wife and I have lived in Boulder for the past 9 years and are both very excited about having 2 Apple stores so near now. No more trips to Denver.

I agree that it is nice to have another Apple Store in the area, but why not Colorado Mills? That would broaden the coverage for the metro area even further. Additionally, hopefully the third store will take some strain off the Genius bar at Cherry Creek, where waits are easily 3 hours minimum.

It only makes sense to place an Apple Store in Flatirons - it's a pretty high traffic mall, not to mention the fact that Cherry Creek and Flatirons cater to different markets in both price and region.

Woo Hoo! This is great news!
Now I won't have to go downtown for the nearest Apple Store. Being a northern person (Broomfield/Boulder), I've wondered why Apple never had a store up here. This is so need. As mentioned above, the other two stores are always too crowded.

Jeff commented that the three stores will be pretty close together. Not really. The FlatIron Crossing store in Broomfield will be about 20 miles away from the Cherry Creek store in Denver and more than 45 miles away from the Aspen Grove store near Highlands Ranch.

I suspect that Apple won't put a store any time soon in Boulder at the Twenty Ninth Street development (the real estate formerly known as Crossroads Mall) because it is only about 10 miles away from FlatIron Crossing.

I'd like them to open one in the new(ish) Belmar development for my own selfish desire not to drive a half hour to their other locations. Anyone know how they decide on where to plant their stores?

What about the massive Apple store in Boston that's rumored to be announced sometime this week? It's suppose to be 4 stories and the largest Apple Store in the world. I guess its supposed to be located somewhere near the Pru/Copley Square.

Hmm. I saw job adds for an Apple store at Flatirons Crossing before Christmas. There were adds for Genius bar people, and demonstration/trainer people. The ads were an Craigslist.

I assumed there already was a store up there. Huh, weird.

There are seven listings at hotjobs for this new store in FlatIrons mall. I saw the space it is going in yesterday (on the lower level), it is huge!

This will make three Apple stores in Colorado all pretty close together but the two out now are ridiculously crowded, so this new one is welcome indeed.

Oh Apple, you really need to open another store in Grand Rapids, MI or expand the current one. It's impossible to get a Genius Bar appointment!
