MacBook Pro availability changes to 3-4 weeks
Over the
last couple of days I've been hearing some rumors that the MacBook Pro availability might get pushed back to March, but
I didn't want to post on it until something legitimate happened - and it has. TUAW reader Oliver noticed that the
MacBook Pro's availability from apple.com/store has changed to 3-4 weeks,
essentially pushing it back to March.Whether this means no one is getting their MacBook Pro until March is yet to be seen. I have yet to hear of shipment confirmation emails, but it is already a week into February. Here's hoping this is just a sign of surging MacBook Pro orders.

The graphic designer at the company that I work for ordered a MacBook the week that it was announced (he's been waiting to get a Mac for over six months). His estimated ship date is Feb. 15 and he should have it in his hands two days later. One can only imagine how many MacBooks Apple has received orders for already. I think a ship date of 3-4 weeks from now is expected, considering demand.

I received my confirmation for the 15th as well and have two day shipping as well... we'll see. I am indeed anxious.

I KNEW it! Who didn't see this coming? It's obvious they were pushing these machines out ahead of schedule. I also find it interesting that nothing is being said about battery life. Not even when it came to ComputerWorld's hands on review did they state the battery life. Found at the end of the article: "Although I did not have enough time to determine battery life on the new model, Apple has said it will be as good or better than current PowerBook offerings."
If I was given one of these machines to test and write about you can bet I'm going to make time to test the battery life.

I just checked my Apple store account after reading this article. My estimated ship date is still the 15th, and my arrival date is still the 23rd. So, HOPEFULLY, this means that NEW orders are subject to this new, delayed availability, but the previously-filed orders will still be completed on time.
I HOPE...

What's the deal with these arrival dates, anyway?
I specified two-day shipping, and my order status has an estimated ship date of the 15th, but an estimated delivery date of the 21st... which is six days, or four business days. Boo hiss.

Same deal here. I just checked the Apple site and my ship date is still the 15th delivery date of the 21st.
I hope this doesn't change.
Maybe there is a delay because they sold out already, and Intel can't supply enough Core Duo to keep up.

Tino,
I believe this is because they come directly from China. Last year when I pre-ordered a mini the same thing happend. When I got the tracking number I didn't recognize the city because it was in China!

im betting on it being stocked in store, retail, quickly - because an apple store is 2 blocks away
and i want to pick it up in the psuedo-briefcase thing.... ahhhh :-) except theyre being so stingy about the stocking info

I have the 15th for shipping on my order too...
My Powerbook is pretty old and I've waited specifically for these new Mac-tel books to drop...
I hope they don't push it back...

Apparently the stores are setting up a new display on Friday with the new MacBooks. So we'll just see how many the stores get.

My shipment date is also the 15th with delivery on the 17th. Hopefully these dates in March only apply to new orders.

Mine still says shipping 27th Jan, delivered 3rd Feb.
It also still says not shipped!
I did get an e-mail which said shipping would be the 15th now!

Ordered 6th Feb., told it would ship 28th Feb and be delivered 6th March. So, that's a 4 week delay.
But I'd point out that nothing has changed. On the website up until yesterday, it said "delivery February" which is 3 to 4 weeks.
