First MacBook Pro unpacking pics

Here is a Flickr set of some pictures of a Macbook Pro being unpacked making the rounds today. The MacBook Pro has a label on it that says 'Apple Development Team,' so the theory is that the pics were snapped somewhere on Apple's campus. I have no idea if that is true, but look at that slim box!
Thanks to all who sent this in.

Niice. Is the white sleeve really meant as a protective sleeve like the one that ships with the iPods or is it just normal plastic packaging?

It really seems to be shot on Apple Campus (or at least at an Apple office). Have a look at this pic:
http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=101215484&context=set-72057594066307201&size=o
You can clearly see IP-Adresses (starting with 17.x.x.x) and their corresponding DNS-Names. They all end with *.apple.com
If I were this guy, I would delete those shots ...

Did you see that power supply on one of the pictures? It's a giant brick, bigger than an Airport Express! What where they thinking?

Yup, its Apple alright. I searched one of the IPs in WHOIS and it turned up Apple in Cupertino.

#4 -They were probably thinking, "We need an 85w power supply!" That's really it. Power supplies that are reliable need proper cooling and packaging. I think the older one was only 60w. The plus to a more powerful supply will be quicker charging of the battery.

I'm still waiting for a picture with its power on accompanies by the mouse hovering over the battery indicator/estimator at full charge to see what we may be able to expect with a non-prototype model... When I see pics, or hear solid evidence/news of the battery life, I will breath a HUGE sigh of relief or quickly click "cancel order" if the news is "1-3 hours." If it's 3 or more hours of battery life, then I hope mine gets here ASAP!

#4 - Yeah what "were" they thinking?! I mean, I'm sure it was along the lines of, "Let's make this AC adapter much larger than it needs to be, because THAT would be hilarious! We've been making things fit into as small of a space as possible, but let's just this one time make something HUGE for the heck of it!" What were they thinking indeed. *roll eyes*

#2 - My wife says you're a loser. She's right. And this is coming from someone who took pictures unpacking a G5.

I think the new book is just a lot of hype. Sure it's thinner- .1" thinner but it still weighs the same and lacks the software compatability necessary to make it a practical purchase. It may be 2x faster in iTunes but it's 4x slower in Photoshop.

it will be 6x faster than your stinkin ppc boxes in photoshop come the latest ps versions..

Dennis, Although I realise you're trolling, I feel the need to correct you.
The new Macbook isn't 4x slower in photoshop. It's just not universal yet... It will be, so get over it.
Practical that mate...

I mean really, you're ready to dish out $2k for slimmer packaging you throw away, and a $20 magnetic power jack?
Also, as a long time 50/50 mac/pc user, at least we can finally put to rest the myth that macs were faster than pcs, Jobs wedges a medium speed Intel processor (by intel standards) and that same machine is instantly 4x faster, just goes to show mac was all fluff marketing up to this point. Save your money, Get the fastest toshiba or dell laptop you can afford, and it will be much faster than the macbook pro running anything adobe related. The only thing you need a mac for in this day and age is for final cut pro. everything else is available for winxp, and it will run faster. How many regular people have, want or need final cut pro?

From my perspective as a business owner, I'm less interested in all the programs available for WinXP and more interested in the thousands -- nay, tens of thousands of programs not available on the Macintosh. I speak, of course, of malware and viruses.

Hey did anyone notice the design change in photo with the macbook open. Look at the hinge, its not one big one anymore, its two on either side. I wonder why that is, i always like the powerbook hinge, seems very sturdy.

In response to Alexander's comment-yes, the MacBook will be faster than the G4 when the new versions are release...and that will be in what 2007 or 8? And that's from Adobe. By then, the next laptop I buy will be a lot faster, bug free and more practical than the scrape on your lap. Cheers.
