MacBook Pro dissected

I don't have a MacBook Pro, and yet OWC has the gall to rip one apart.  What's up with that?  Actually, I'm quite glad someone did because that saves me from buying one and voiding my warranty something fierce. Thomas Ricker, over at Engadget (you might have heard of them), noticed that there is nary an Intel logo to be found. Very interesting.

Tip o' the hat to iFelix.

Interesting -- notice all the tiny components on the board. That's an Intel trademark. Apple boards used to be very clean, neat and tidy. You never used to see that clutter. Everything was in done in ICs. This board definitely looks like an Intel design.

Very cool pics!

I see it's easy to add more memory. That's great.

Where exactly is the CPU, anyway? I don't see any obvious large chips. That's still an amazing job cramming it all in, by the way.

It looks very easy to get into! That's a real plus. No 22 screws to just replace the HD.

Very cool! I see the optical drive is on the right, facing front?

We got notification from Apple that one's arriving at the iFlipFlop offices on Friday at 10:30 AM via FedEx. Forget President's Day, it's MacBookPro Day. And, yes, we won't be cracking that thing open like an egg...but glad someone did.
