Flickr find: Macs really ARE easy to use

Flickr user amalthya is living in Goma, Democratic of Congo where she works at a chimpanzee sanctuary (no, that's not a pet). She says that the chimp pictured above is one of the orphans they look after.
I asked her about her experiences using Macs all the way out there, and this was her reply:
"...I promote macs wherever I go in Congo or other parts of Africa because virii are just rampant anywhere you plug in. Of course, I have had problems with durability of the powerbook -- living in Congo and Uganda is pretty dusty and dirty and my 17-incher hasn't been holding up too well!"
Not to mention the hair in the keyboard, I would imagine.

When will people learn... The word is "viruses," not "virii." "Virii" is just 1337 5p34k, made up by somebody trying to sound smart.

It's good to see President Bush working to expand his skill-set.

#3 LOL!
Do people, in general, seriously find using a Mac easier? Don't get me wrong I think Windoze bites (I spend enough hours on Windoze at work!) and Linux/Unix are hardly suitable for home users, but the difficulties in buying Mac compatible software / hardware on the high street and the fact that so many people are taught Microsoft both at school and work means that being a Mac owner can be quite complicated. My wife still hasn't fully got over the how come this application hasn't any windows open? Mac OS may be more intuitive if you've never ever sat in front of a computer before but owning a Mac brings in so many other difficulties...mrtotes

Eep, you're totally right about "virii" ... I did write viruses at first, but it looked somehow wrong and I went back and changed it.
Good to learn new things - thanks!

I suspect that's why a lot of people write "virii," "viruses" is a funny looking word. Also they've probably seen it a thousand times before, and if you see it enough times, you start to assume it's correct. No harm, no foul.
Nice chimp, by the way.

Wow, what a blog!
I spent the better part of this morning viewing most of Laura's journal + photos. All I can say is; I'm jealous as Hell. Keep up the great work Laura, and please hug a chimp for me - they are adorable.
