RUMOR: Macbook may come in colors
What do you
do when you've exhausted your idea of brightly-colored computers (hint: "Flower Power" was a sure indication
of this)? Go with all white. What happens when you've tired of white? Why, go back to colors, of course. AppleInsider is reporting that the forthcoming Macbooks will
be available in white and two other colors (at least initially). Black could certainly be an option, considering the
iPod line, but what about color number three? What would you likely buy? Take out poll, and come back tomorrow for the
results. [Via Cult of Mac]

Anybody else think a CoreDuo-powered black MacBook would KILL MacBook Pro sales?
I'm guessing the high end MacBook will be single core.

coloured computers (electronics) are for girls and children, i prefer the professional and stylish white or black and metal looks, contrasts, not colours

Dear Andy,
Thank you for raising the level of discourse on TUAW to heretofore unimagined heights. Your insight cuts right to the core of the issue, and the astounding sensibility you apply to the topic of gender leaves me all but speechless!

I color-blind anyway. I can't tell the difference between scarlet and dark red.

Andy: What's wrong with girls and children? Are you worried that any deviation from your "professional" image will destroy your whole facade? John: *clap clap clap*
Personally, I'd get either black, pink or white (in that order of preference). Bit sick of matt metal. It's sleek, but lacks a certain substance.
I agree that anyone teetering between a MacBook Pro and a MacBook non-Pro might be swayed towards a non-Pro, if it came in black. This may not be a bad thing, the iBooks have a higher profit margin than Powerbooks, don't they? Don't quote me on that.

Where's the option for "I own a MacBook Pro?"
Honestly though, adding color options to the MacBook (iBook, whatever it ends up being) is not a bad idea. White is great, a black one would look sleek, and colors such as blue or pink would appeal to the younger crowd.

The black "Wall Street" line of Powerbooks is still my favorite in terms of looks. But when the time comes to get a new laptop, looks are about my last consideration.

What, no "Blue Dalmatian" option?
I'm serious. I liked Blue Dalmatian.

Dude, where's the Resse Witherspoon Orange? I thought that was the best looking Clamshell color! Green is my second choice.

If there is a third color, my bet it will be for institutional accounts only. E.G.. University of Tennessee Orange. Alabama Crimson and so on.
This will help deter theft of school property, and might help sales of the old units to the students that were using them.

I might be willing to buy a black MacBook if it was a matte finish.

Black? Seriously?
I thought we were through with black Laptops... that's so 1996, even if it is glossy.
I love the black iPod, but a black MacBook is like a design step backwards.
What are you thinking people?!?!?
Ferarri Red for me!

I saw no Lime Green option!
(Jonathan Ive's favorite color, according to Mr Jobs' Paris 2000 keynote where the final rev of the old clamshell iBook was unveiled.)
It really all depends if the new MacBook 13.3" has a plastic or aluminum case.
I think an anodized aluminum case, aka, the iPod mini series, would look very very cool in color. But plastic? Maybe with a bit of translucency here and there it would work. Fruity colors really belong in late 90s history books though.
But I don't understand why all of you want black MacBooks. Wouldn't they just be a dead ringer for a Dell?
