Apple Store FlatIron Crossing Grand Opening report
I have emerged victorious from my first ever Apple Store grand opening, and I have to say: it was pretty cool. There was one heck of a line that ran far outside the closest mall entrance, and it was really cool to see people from all walks of life, including Dan Lurie from The Apple Blog and Jeff Gamet from The Mac Observer. My friend and I arrived around 8:15 am, and we were about 20th in line, though it picked up momentum shortly thereafter.I've posted a photo set from the event to our TUAW Flickr account, so check those out if you want more proof of how crazy Apple fans can get for a Saturday morning grand opening. One minor complaint: I wish Apple would stop using "geek black" on their event shirts like the ones they handed out today. Aside from that, it was fun to get my Mac-geek on for the day, even if I couldn't afford to actually buy anything.

I'm seriously envious of you guys. This store is all of 12 minutes from my house but had a previous commitment on a family activity this morning or I would have been right there with you. (Truth be told, I'll be heading up there this evening to check it out).
Congrats on your first opening.
Jeff

What is "geek black", exactly? Is it somehow different from regular black, or is it that only geeks wear black these days?

So let me get this straight - Apple has a typo on all their shirts?
It's "FlatIron Crossing", not "Flatiron Crossing". Uppercase "I".
Hehe. Well, at least according to the FlatIron site... =)

Okay.... I admit had to Google FlatIron Crossing to find out it's in Colorado. NY's my town...

Yea, nice pics. I'm gonna have to get down there later this week if I can, been eyeing the iPod Video, although my 4G iPod doesn't really need replacing yet. :)

Awesome, I'm the guy in the middle of the "tons o' geeks" photo and I look like I'm picking my nose. I'm not, I was fighting back tears.

The Flatirons are nearby mountains. I have no idea why the mall would capitalize the "I" - it doesn't make any sense.

Can't wait for the Boulder Apple Store to open. Looks like late Summer/early Fall. Supposed to be the largest on in Colorado yet (4900 sq.ft).

Standing in line for a store like all other Apple stores selling stuff you can buy all over the place... What a waste. Very sad.

Can't wait for Boulder to open either, the ten minute drive to Flatirons is too far.... lol! Now just need one in Colorado Springs so when I travel down to see my mom I dont have to stop at Cherry Creek or Aspen Grove!
