No new MacBooks today?

I could have told you it won't launch this week. Do we really think a new intel iBook for a severely out of date old product wouldn't warrant a Steve Jobs intro?

The new "ibook" or "Macbook" will have an new case and a new design so our first indication it is being launched is when media starts getting invites to a "special Apple introduction" which likely also will have a shuffle replacement/redesign or an iPod nano capacity bump.

id love to see a tally of how many things appleinsider.com has actually goten right in the past 2 years. unless its like 2 hours before announcing, from my recolection they have broken nothing worth any ammount of bandwidth.

Honestly, did anyone really believe that Apple would make an announcement as huge as the MacBook DURING the E3 Convention?? They know that for any announcement to have maximum impact, there needs to be as little going on in computing-related areas (i.e. gaming) as possible. Anybody else get the feeling that Apple might purposely push back release dates, every once in a while, just to spite the rumor whores?

Is there a scoreboard anywhere on how successful all these insiders are in predicting Apple product intros? Might be helpful to know that AppleInsider is at 18% or 31% or whatever. As it is right now, seems like a simple way to generate site traffic. With some stats I might be better able to consider the source...

i love reading these comments when the rumor sites get it wrong, everyone gets really mad. Some comments are funnier then others, such as:

- At 4:00pm Eastern they decide to publish the HOT news that there won't be Macbooks today. How do they get the balls to publish this hard hitting news?


- STOP SHOWING THAT DAMN SEMINAR THING ITS FOR THE IBOOK G4 GOD DAMN.

- I had a go at making a widget that counted down the days before the next iBook revision, but it didn't work because I don't think JavaScript supports the 128-bit long ints needed to store the number.

you people also need to keep in mind that this intel transition wasn't even suppose to happen until mid 2006 (i.e. NOW).

I think apple is ahead of schedule and is doing a good job.
