Ars Technica reviews the MacBook
Clint Ecker over at Ars Technica has given his new MacBook a through looking over and has written up his findings. Clint had a hard time finding any negative things to say about the MacBook (he points to the integrated graphics card, and the glossy screen as potential downsides). The most interesting section of the review is how the new MacBooks perform as compared the the first rev of MacBook Pros. They are pretty much neck and neck for most of the benchmarks.

May 20 2006 at 9:33 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI found the review very helpful. I'll more than likely go with a Macbook Pro coz I need the dedicated graphics to run a special Windows program that requires a dedicated graphics card (Not a game). At any rate I'll wait for the next rollout of goodies in the Fall.

May 19 2006 at 4:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI belive the reason why the CPU's are so close in specs is that the macbook will take over the role of the current Macbook Pro's cpu's, and in August apple will announce all macbooks pro's will change to the new 64 mobile CPU.
the Macbook was presented in January and well it's maybe soon to upgrade it's specs :) well I hope so, because I'm waiting for a MBP 17" 64 CPU for my mobile video editing//effects
i wonder if we are going to see a 15" macbook?
May 19 2006 at 4:17 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell, geez, of course nobody has nothing negative to say about the MacBook yet. It's only been out for a few days! Wait a little while, and if there are any quality control problems or other irritations, they will come out. Remember that we are just now talking about the firmware updates to the MacBook Pro and the heat issues it is having.
I certainly haven't forgotten the defective hinge on my rev. A iBook, that eventually caused the screen to stop working until it was fixed. Nobody would know about that kind of thing at this point.
I am a little skeptical that this honeymoon feeling people are having towards the MacBook is going to last.
