This video is a little longer than it needs to be to make its point, but it is a good illustration of how the MacBook can handle emulating 2 OSes whilst running OS X (thanks to Parallels).

Using the same behavior as User Switching should be avoided. For OS Switching, rotating along the Y axis would be distinctive. But running other OS's in their own window is even better, as drag'n'drop can be usefully employed.

BAD ASS. I cannot wait to show this to my PeeCee loving friends. A sexy Mac for only £800... but wait! It runs Windows too! They're gonna want to throw their Dells out their (real life) Window once they see this.

Did they do that with two users? One Mac one PC and then parallels running in full screen? Either way, it's awesome!

I just can't get enough of how many times the headline "Apple Macintosh Computers Now Use X86 Processors" can be rewritten into completely new and unique phrases!

They arent using user switching, they are just using VirtueDesktop, a desktop switching app for OS X.
I run this on my MBP and it ROCKS, and is so easy to setup I dont know why you all think its so hard.
Step 1. Install VirtueDesktop - Setup the hotkeys to switch desktops etc... and pick your transition. (all screen transitions in OS X are available to any application.
Step 2. Install Parallels and switch to an empty desktop. Launch the program and install windows as you would on any pc.
Step 3. There is no step 3. Just use your hotkey and rotate between your desktops. DONE.

@kgarr (#4). The way you do it is to make a fresh boot and start up only one app (preferably an app using little memory like browser). I doubt it would be running that smooth with 2/3 OSs after about a week of regular usage with iphoto/aperture/photoshop/whatever_apps_that_require_bit_more_of_ram. Especially with X Windows. X is a memory hog.

I can't emphasize enough how important having more RAM is. Think you're going to do this with a stock 512MB macbook? haha think again! I tried getting paralleles up and running on my 2.0Ghz Macbook with 512, and I could barely even get it to load windows, let alone that once windows was running, I couldn't launch anything else, and it usually would just force me to hard reboot. The solution? 2GB ram coming straight to my door thanks to newegg ($165 for the matched pair). can't wait to try it!

Am I the only person who is EXTREMELY annoyed by Windows users coming to the Mac platform and not knowing how to use it? The browser does not need to take up the WHOLE FU**ING screen? The reason why it does not default to full screen is because on the Mac, you are supposed to have overlapping windows open, many at the same time. YOu have a 13 inch wide-screen: learn to use that space and not just have one program take up the whole screen.

#16 / Jon, what if they want to use the whole screen? i have always done that because i like that more than having other apps up at the same time. it does'nt necessaryli mean that they dont know how to use it.

I'd like to see how well Half-Life plays on that, even with two gigs of RAM.
