10.4.7 enables two finger right-click on 15" MacBook Pros
Many commenters on our Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update post have noticed that two finger right-clicking has been enabled on 15" MacBook Pros. It seems to work just fine on mine, and this update should evoke a sigh of relief to all those using the trackpad hack we blogged to accomplish the same thing since the hack has annoying side effects, such as needing to be re-enabled after each restart. As a side note: it seems a little strange that this wasn't documented; I scanned the extended release notes on the 10.4.7 update and didn't see this anywhere.

a Toast 7 DVD video image menu selection glitch fix when exporting to an image file would be nice... I've been waiting since 10.4.6 :-(

Strange that it was undocumented?
No, that's par for the course.

I have noticed that my MacBook Pro is significantly cooler, too. It was running around 157 F and now is at 112 F. Huge difference. This happened right after updating.

10.4.7 breaks Safari! A quick visit to cnn.com will probably crash Safari. It does it for me approx 50% of the time. And thats just loading the home page. I assume it one of their cycling ads that has the issue, but it not a happy result of the update.

My Safari is fine. I'm glad they updated WebKit/Safari, some rendering issues have been fixed.

It doesn't work for me.
Still don't see the option in system preferences.
Anyone else with problems?
Any tips?

#6: Are you sure you're checking the Trackpad tab of the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences Pane? It's under the 'Trackpad Gestures' section in that tab.
#3: Are you sure you don't have any Safari plugins or extensions installed that might not have been updated for 10.4.7 yet? My Safari is working fine, as I repeatedly refreshed CNN and restarted Safari just to make sure.

Also: I don't believe this right-click option is available for any portables besides the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. I don't think PowerBooks get this feature.

Yes, this does work on the MacBook I've been using it for most of the day, and I just can't thank Apple enough for this.
Good-Bye,
Control-click

The option is not available in some languages. If you want to set the pref, just change your system language to English, set the option and go back to your language of preference.

why not powerbooks w/ two-finger scrolling? This seems like a simple software fix (wink, wink all you intrepid hackers).

This was actually first introduced on the MacBook and newer MBP revisions (glossy screen release) under 10.4.6. Worked then, works now, but only if you have one of these models.
