SeisMac

Living in San Francisco is great; the weather is fantastic, the people are friendly, and I challenge you to find a city with a higher concentration of geeks. However, one does have to keep in mind that although this town may seem perfect, a deadly force lies dormant beneath my feet, waiting to unleash its fury upon this techie metropolis in a few seconds of violent earth shaking. In plainer words; this here is earthquake country.

Lucky for those of us who spend working hours staring at our 'Books, Suitable Systems has released SeisMac, a new program which takes data from the motion sensor in your later model PowerBook, MacBook, or MacBook Pro, and presents it as a fancy-shmancy scientific seismograph. SeisMac is available as a free download.

I was in Vegas about a month ago it was friggin 117º outside. I'm from Miami so I can take the heat, but going outside was like opening a preheated oven, dang. I'm just glad it wasn't humid as well.

I like San Fran, but Seattle definitely has a higher concentration of geeks. Seattle and San Fran are the tech capitals of America.

Of course, Seattle is also an earthquake town

LOL...i just had guests from SF this weekend (i live in Santa Cruz), and one of them said to be as we where sitting in the sun. "I love the weather here. We get days like this only a few times a year."

If left active indefinitely, will this app prevent the hard disk parking function (the designed purpose of the Sudden Motion Sensor)?

Too bad you can't save the graphs or change how many seconds the entire window displays, or the sensitivity. Cool, but it's a bit too simple.
