Apple KB article: MacBook Pro whine

We reported a few weeks ago that it looked like Apple was responding to the infamous 'MacBook Pro whine,' however, there was no official word from Apple. Enter Apple Knowledge Base article 303365, which I shall quote for you, ' If your 15-inch MacBook Pro emits a high-pitched buzzing sound, please contact AppleCare for service.'
Sounds much like the MacBook discoloration article, doesn't it? So, if your MacBook is whining which in turn makes you whine to Apple make sure you have this KB article handy.
Thanks to everyone in the comments for pointing this out.

Aren't the buzzing sounds (caused by a fault inverter) and the whining sounds (no fix) two separate sounds?

Has anyone had their display inverter problem (e.g. the screen buzz sound that occurs when the display is on anything but 100% ) fixed?

I took mine in and described exactly that -- a high-pitched whine. Within a week, I had my machine back with the new logic board. It's wonderful.

The guys over at InsanelyMac (OSx86Project) bring out a few good points about this here:
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=22664
From the article:
First, notice that it just covers the 15-inch model, despite the fact that other models exhibit the same problems.
Second, check out the date at the bottom of the page. It seems the problem was noticed as early as February 24, 2006 but wasn't made public until July 21, 2006. That means that Apple was aware of the issue as the first units were being shipped back in February... but didn't take the time to either 1) let the public know about it by making the KB article live or 2) working to fix the problem!

I suspect they knew about the problem from the start, but didn't have a solution until now. So rather than have a KB that says "We're working on it" which doesn't really say much, they now say "Bring it in, we'll fix it."
This dovetails with the previous report of new motherboards which fix the whining problem.

I'd be interested in calling and seeing if they'd offer a repair after mentioning this KB article. I'm going to try when I get back from my vacation. So far I've had my MBP in for a fan replacement but they didn't acknowledge the hiss/whine at the time (to be honest, the fan noise was buzzing and clipping so bad it actually masked the whine completely.)
