Apple KB article: MacBook Pro whine

We reported a few weeks ago that it looked like Apple was responding to the infamous 'MacBook Pro whine,' however, there was no official word from Apple. Enter Apple Knowledge Base article 303365, which I shall quote for you, ' If your 15-inch MacBook Pro emits a high-pitched buzzing sound, please contact AppleCare for service.'
Sounds much like the MacBook discoloration article, doesn't it? So, if your MacBook is whining which in turn makes you whine to Apple make sure you have this KB article handy.
Thanks to everyone in the comments for pointing this out.

if i was to take my whiney 15" MacBook Pro to the Apple store in London, would they just replace it with a new one, or send it away to be fixed?

I'm going to try when I get back from my vacation. So far I've had my MBP in for a fan replacement but they didn't acknowledge the hiss/whine at the time (to be honest, the fan noise was buzzing and clipping so bad it actually masked the whine completely.)

This dovetails with the previous report of new motherboards which fix the whining problem.
The guys over at InsanelyMac (OSx86Project) bring out a few good points about this here:

From the article:
First, notice that it just covers the 15-inch model, despite the fact that other models exhibit the same problems.
Second, check out the date at the bottom of the page. It seems the problem was noticed as early as February 24, 2006 but wasn't made public until July 21, 2006. That means that Apple was aware of the issue as the first units were being shipped back in February... but didn't take the time to either 1) let the public know about it by making the KB article live or 2) working to fix the problem!
I just called Apple and they are taking my MacBook Pro in for service.

July 25 2006 at 11:11 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHas anyone had their display inverter problem (e.g. the screen buzz sound that occurs when the display is on anything but 100% ) fixed?
July 25 2006 at 11:04 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAren't the buzzing sounds (caused by a fault inverter) and the whining sounds (no fix) two separate sounds?
looks like they knew everything all these months, huh?
