Make your own MacBook Pro sleeve

Conrad had a nice roundup of available sleeves for the MacBook, but what about you MacBook Pro users? Sure, the sleeve companies say that their PowerBook gear should accommodate your new MacBook Pro, but that doesn't sound like any fun. I say make your own following these instructions.

It may not be pretty, but your MacBook Pro will be safe from falls and thieves (since who would put such a beautiful machine in something like that?).

I never understood why people would spend 2k+ on a computer then skimp on a decent cover for it..

Reminds me of people 'hooking up' their $60k cars with chicken wire..

I just got my custom sleeve from Reload bags and it is awesome. Fit is perfect, choice of custom colors and options, and completely handmade. Not for everyone but very cool if you are looking for something different.

Funny, I got a great sleeve and backpack from maccase (http://www.mac-case.com/MacCase%20Combo.htm) for my MBP. Love it.

Who has the change to plunk down on a MBP but won't fork over the dough for a real sleeve?

You can bet your ass I would never put my nice MPB or even a MB in some freaking duct tape and ugly foam.

Booq's sleeve, the Vyper is available in sizes to fit all MacBooks including PRO models as well as PowerBooks. Different sizes should also fit iBooks and PC notebooks of various dimensions.

There's no reason to buy any other sleeve. No one else has anything that is even half as good. It's a good deal at double the price because it will last even longer than your computer.

My wife made me a rather stylish slipcover for my 17" MBP.

The embroidered Apple logo was a nice touch. :)

Ahh, yes... I made a sleeve for my Titanium. Used similar closed cell foam, glued thin aluminum to it (for hard outside protection), then sewed a thin black (but soft!) material around the foam to make a box shell, then sewed an outer shell of canvas duck, then sewed a strap all the way around, made my own metal loops, and etc... I would never do this again! I'd probably go with this simpler method, that of using duct tape (though I'd probably still use the thin aluminum).

hmmm I got a sleeve from Booq bags for my 15in PBP. Fits like a glove, and got it within 24 hrs of ordering.

My buddy, told me about them after he got one for his 17in MBP.

I just wouldn't trust some foam and duct tape.
