Ruby on Rails included with Leopard server
Most of the talk about Leopard server is taking place behind closed doors at WWDC this year, which makes sense since most consumers don't give a flying service about the server edition of OS X. Be that as it may, the Ruby on Rails guys (that is the hip, new Web 2.0 framework for building web apps) will be included, by default, with Leopard server. At the moment the included version is slight older, but there are many months with which Apple engineers can use to make sure the latest and greatest is included with the final product.

Did they mention yesterday whether Tiger Server is now Universal? I know they announced the XServes, but they aren't shipping until October.

Well, it looks like you can now order a Mac Pro with Server pre-installed so it must be Universal now.

That's great. I hope it is included with the consumer version of leopard too.
This may be a stupid question, but will leopard be universal? and will we be able to take advantage of the new "Core Animation" feature on G4 PPC's?

It's also included on Leopard client.
Tiger server is universal.

The only downside to this is how many RoR developers will be using OS X Server? What would be really nice is to include RoR on Leopard itself, not just the server.

Be nice to see this on Leopard standard not just the server version.
Also like to see PHP5, MySQL 5 & Apache2 delivered with the non-server Leopard.

I'm always disappointed by the older versions they include in the server though -- if it wasn't for http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/welcome.html , MySQL nice installer, and Fink, we'd still be using old school PHP and MySQL. It always ends up we have to configure an installation that hides itself outside what we would typically do on a Linux box just so it doesn't become flubbed by Software Update. Not that I'm dying for bleeding edge everything, but if they're not going to put the latest and greatest stable release, it's a bit backwards.
I expect this though - just like I expect their Wiki to be a bit weak like their blogging software built in was pretty weak. It's a hard middle ground, they market a server that doesn't need an IT department, when anyone who runs a Tiger server knows right away the discrepancies and needs an IT department. They sell it with entry level billing, when it barely is.
