Rig of the Day: MacBook on a bed

Rumors of the Rig of the Day's death have been greatly exaggerated. All hail the newest member of the TUAW RoD club, J|D's aptly titled 'I Was Bored... part II.' Why has this rig won the coveted Rig of the Day honors? Simplicity, my friends, simplicity. Just a man on a bed with his MacBook.
If you'd like to see your own rig featured here, simply upload photos into our group Flickr pool (which is full of things that are decidedly not rigs at the moment). We select one image to highlight each day, and crown a Rig of the Week on Sundays.
Update: My failing eyes fooled me into thinking this was a Mac Book Pro, obviously it is a MacBook. My apologies.

Did ya'll run out of creative pictures? I run this setup with my 12" PB every night. Nothing inspiring about that.

Simplicity? No, that's new gadget poverty. Sleeps on a mattress on the floor with new gadgets all around him. ;)

I should put my picture in the flickr pool. I will call it "mac mini on a desk".

You might want to update the tag to macbook instead of macbook pro, too.

Now it is officially time to retire the "rig of the day".
Calm photo is questionable and this goes beyond low "rig" wise.

Goodness gracious, who knew people had such strong opinions about the Rig of the Day?

Problem is Scotty, a lot of the old "Rigs" were very cool. This is a huge disappointment in comparison.

Hope he updates us with new pictures when his bed catches on fire ...

some of us keep fully updated rig pics in the pool.
this is a slap in the face to those that actually bother.

Hmmm... nobody seems to have noticed he uses an iLap.
Damn expensive peace of bent aluminum sheet with some sponge attached to it. But it's definitely a must-have if you're using your Apple notebook as a laptop and don't want to burn your legs.
I live mine... ;)

Yes, I thought the iLap was the important part in the Rig of the Day but it wasn't even mentioned.

Couple of things that need to be cleared up here:
1: J|D sleeps on a normal bed, its just the perspective that makes it look like its on the floor
2: Yes its simple, but if u could do a 360 degree shot you would see the rest of the setup
3: This is J|D's SECOND RotD, is that a record???
How do I know all this?? I'm one of J|D's best mates in the real world, I got him into Mac's and he doesn't deserve the criticism being levelled.

To be fair...
They indeed didn't show this guy's complete rig. That would apparently be here:

We're not critical of your friend. Just of TUAW.
Consider it feedback.
While RotD is a nice pass-time, fun and often informative; some rigs are more rig than others, and, I think most agree that they wouldn't call their portable & cooling pad on their bed a "rig" let alone think about featuring that as RotD for the whole world to see. Add some inaccuracies and omissions you get some TUAW readers that like to point that out. That's all.

I hope that thing is sitting on a hard, flat surface, and not on the blanket.

Steps for posting a comment on this RotD:
1. Find a sense of humor.
That is all.
