Laptop battery replacments starting to arrive
When I contacted Apple about the battery that was in my Powerbook (Yes, I'm one of the lucky 1.8 million people who get a shiny, new battery from Apple), I was told that my replacement would arrive in 4-6 weeks. I thought that was odd, as Apple's turnaround time is usually much better than that, but they do have nearly two million batteries to deal with, so I understand. Today, two of our readers have written in to let us know that their replacements arrived today via FedEx, despite having been given the same 4-6 week window that I received. So, TUAWers, what has your experience been? Have any of you gotten shiny, new batteries over the past couple of days?

Mine arrived today. Good thing too. My battery was at 2/3 it original capacity. We need a recall every 1-2 years.
Oddly, I was also part of the last recall right after I purchased my 1.67Ghz 15" PB.

I agree with #1. I was at 75% of original capacity. Thanks Sony! :) (My 15" PB was part of the last recall as well).

I've submitted the request, probably about a week ago, maybe a few days longer.. but nothing yet. I wasn't expecting it until the 4-6 weeks like they had said. Maybe i'll get it sooner than expected if some people already are.
But hey, i don't care, I have *two* batteries, so i'm using my perfectly good one for now (serial number is fine) while I wait for the replacement on the defective one... although I rarely need to use two batteries anyway, i'm just hoping it gives me better battery life.. not that i'm unhappy with the way this one is.

My PowerBook happened to be in Houston for a logic board replacement (the bad ram slot thing) when the recall was announced... it stayed an extra day, and when it came back it had a shiny new battery.

My shinny battery came today (15" PB). I submited my claim the day that it was announced and was also given the window of 4-6 weeks. I also submitted a claim for a 12" iBook and another 15" PB at the same time and neither of thoes batteries have come yet.

I got mine today, too. Already shipped the recalled battery back, and it seems my battery life is already looking up.
Recalls aren't half bad.

Got mine today, too (PB 15"). I was really happy about the whole recall thing since my battery is down to about an hour's worth, and I was thinking about replacing it anyway. Coconutbattery puts my capacity at 4370 mAh.

It looks like everyone is getting them for their 15". Any 12" user got theirs yet (PowerBook/iBook)?

I got on their website as soon as it became available the day the recall was announced. My battery came yesterday.

Haven't got mine yet. I registered for it the first day it was possible. And yes, it's nice to get a new one, since mine was starting to show its age.

like #5, my powerbook is also currently away for a logic board replacement (apparently AppleCare Support says that in my case notes, the problem wasn't fixed by replacing the logic board). I submitted my recall form on Aug 24th (I was away on vacation, forgive me) and have yet to recieve my replacement.

Not the same thing, but my MacBook Pro's battery was recalled a few weeks back. I filled out the info on the website (took me several tries but that was my bad eyes figuring out that 5 was really an 'S' and such) late on a Sunday night, and Tuesday morning the DHL guy was knocking on the door.

Put in my request the minute the form on Apple.com went live, got mine from FedEx today. Not a bad turnaround, although I suspect it may be longer for later requests.
