iTunes to be rebranded as "Showtime?"
There might be more to the iTunes store being down than we originally thought. A little bird sent us a tip that belies the possibility that the 'Showtime' buzzword Apple's been using to promote their special event today could be the actual new name of the iTunes/Music/Movie Store and software. This link points to a phobos.apple.com/showtime page which echoes the same phrase we've been seeing elsewhere. Those phobos.apple links, if you haven't seen them before, are iTMS-specific links, allowing users to link directly to items inside the store. The fact that there's a /showtime/ after this one makes it all the more suspicious.Could this be a complete iTunes rebranding? Or Apple just covering their tracks by throwing off the scent?
Or this just might be a temporary thing for today, either way stay tuned.

Oops: "A little bird sent us a tip that belies the possibility..."
"belies" does not mean 'suggests,' but rather 'fails to be true or fulfilled."
Freudian Slip? Also "little birds" suggest the idea of an anonymous rumor overheard, not something you pulled out of your ass.
This site sure has become lame.
It makes too much sense: "It's Showtime". The name Showtime could be applied to the movie download service.
Important to differentiate the movie service and associated hardware from iTunes, even if it is essentially iTunes 7.0 with an updated movie store.
Not only would Showtime the channel freak, Apple wouldn't even try something like that, that'd be stupid. Showtime would hit them with a C&D by the time Steve Jobs walked off the stage from the announcement.

The recent revision of the iMovie trademark points towards using that for the movie service moreso than calling it Showtime, HBO, Bravo, or whatever.
the link went down to the phobos showtime.....
