The "iTunes Store" is down

As of approximately 8:30 AM Eastern in the US, the "iTunes Store" (note that the word "music" has been omitted) is unavailable. Like many of you, I got the message pictured at right when I went from the main page to the TV Shows page and back again. Is anyone outside the US experiencing the same outage and/or message? Ooh, the anticipation builds. And now we wait.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Update: We're getting reports that the iTunes Store is unavailable in the UK, Norway, Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Portugal, The Netherlands, Hong Kong, Spain...whew! Could this mean movies for all?

I just tried downloading some Japanese music and iTunes Japan doesn't work from here (the US). I have 4 theories: (1)The iTunes store is actually down, as the error message reports. (2)My iTunes is malfunctioning. (3)I need to download a copy of iTunes from the Japanese site and possibly uninstall my current one (this would be a pain in the ass). (4)iTunes doesn't allow people to access the iTunes of countries they don't reside in for the same reason DVDs have region encoding - to control when what gets released where and deny consumers the choice of downloading multicultural content to keep the world ignorant (this would be extremely disappointing). Can anyone confirm or deny these theories?

iTunes store is FREQUENTLY going down for extended periods of time. Quits in the middle of searches, quits in the middle of downloads.

Apple's taken something good and made it terrible.

Shouldn't they have omitted the Tunes part as well. That refers to music as well. I always thought the iTunes Music Store was a bit redundant. Kind of like when someone says ATM Machine.
