Phone drivers in iTunes 7 for iTunes Phones, not an iPhone

Lots and lots of people have emailed us about the phone drivers that are included in iTunes 7. Most folks seem to think that this is a sign that Apple will shortly be releasing an iPhone.

It isn't.

These drivers are for the iTunes enabled phones, such as the recently announced RAZR V3i, available from Cingular. Sadly, the Motorola iTunes phones still have a 100 song cap, but they new have the sexy RAZR form factor.

Sorry, no iPhone here.

The V3i is great, syncs with iTunes 6 and 7. Get and unlocked phone and use it on any network (quadband phone). 100 song limit sucks. GREAT FOR PODCASTS!

Considering the 100-song cap this might be seem like a ridiculous request, but is there a way to get the iTunes player software onto my iTunes-less SLVR (European release). I really miss the integration.

I don't see how any of this points specifically to an iPhone. They just seem like generic strings for any future game/video/music enabled phones, which may or may not be made by Apple. They could just as easily be referring to future Motorola phones.

If you have a Windows Mobile (gag I know) Smartphone and Missing Sync, you can also sync your phone with iTunes. Not sure how to get it to save the songs to my memroy card though and not internal memory....

Meh, who am I kidding, and iPhone would be better.

All signs point to this being for an iPhone not Motorola's iTunes phones. Once again TUAW does a bang up job of journalism...

"4301.126" = "Are you sure you want to sync movies? All existing content on the mobile phone “^1” will be removed and replaced with movies from your iTunes library.";
...
