The SeeThru is a polycarbonate shell for your MacBook Pro (a MacBook model is coming soon) which enshrouds your MacBook Pro. All the ports have cutouts so you never need to remove the case, unless you need to take out the battery that is.The SeeThru is available in red or clear, and costs $39.95.

That's awesome! And they're only $40 each! I think I'll get both the see-thru AND red ones so I can swap them like skins (once I save up enough money to buy a MBP, that is ;-).

If they made a Project (RED) MBP or MacBook, I bet it would look like
this. I really like that red. But how simple would it be to buy a
clear one, and paint it any color you want, and make a battery
opening. Only problem I forsee with this however, is I have a 17" MBP.

I promise you this case will burn both itself and the macbook pro.
Most stupid Mac idea of the year.
Or maybe this is just a sick joke.

It won't burn you if you do that fan hack to your MBP. And now, there's also an app that will control the fan speed so it doesn't get so hot you can't have it on your lap: http://homepage.mac.com/holtmann/eidac/index.html.

the actual case has vents underneath and it's probably going to have been tested on a macbook pro at some point in development anyway.
There's a MacBook version out soon as well

I think this would look a lot nicer on the white MacBooks, the colour will come through stronger, and they're already plastic. I don't know why you'd put this on a MBP... makes no sense, unless you want your machine running a bit hotter, and to store in your bag slightly thicker.

Why? My original 17" PBook still shows nary a scratch after 3+ years of use.
Dumbest product award goes to....

@ Zaq .... I don't want to paint the entire MBP, that'd be stupid. Cases aren't permanent -- but Colorware [possibly] voiding your warranty by painting your machine is.
Not to mention this is less expensive.

Heat was the first thing that came to my mind too. Love my MBP, but it gets toasty sometimes. Not sure slats on the bottom would sufficiently dissipate the heat.

Honestly, why would someone buy this?
I bought a MBP because it doesn't look like a tank (Thinkpad) or simply cheap (Dell). A coloured plastic shelf turns a sleek and beautiful notebook into a cheap OS X thing...
Besides, my MBP does not have one scratch, and I just throw it in my bag every day - the only place you see the use is the opener, it gets a little dark...

I'll certainly be purchasing one. I'm not too worried about heat, right now manually control my fan speed to keep it cool, but I'm working on an application that will completely replace the OS X fan control system. But this product kicks butt...I'm tired of worrying about scratches.

My MBP doesn't have any scratches, but it DOES have some mysterious dents. I ordered one of the red ones theoretically to protect it, but also because its the same color red as my old 1986 Acura Integra. The MacuraBook Pro is thus born!
I'm disturbingly excited about that.

How can you say ColorWare PC is better? For the price ($40), it's SO much more affordable - PLUS it PROTECTS the machine AND it's NOT permanent, so you could always take it off anyways.

This is a fantastic idea. Yesterday I discovered a dent in my Powerbook -- I can't eject my PCMCIA memory card reader anymore. And the corner around the power socket got dented over a year ago, it's been a struggle to keep it plugged in ever since.
Yes, I take care of my Powerbook. Every Powerbook owner I know has dents and even sometimes even warped frames. These aluminum chassis are just stupid. I sincerely hope that the next MacBook Pro revision adopts the same shell material as the MacBooks.

Wow.. this looks to be a good companion for MacBook Pro. I am tempting to buy one MacBook soon, hopefully they will come out one model for MacBook too.
Cheers...
