Apple Announces iTunes Latino, Telemundo and mun2 in iTunes Store

Apple has launched a new Latino section in the US iTunes Store featuring Latin music, music videos, television shows, audiobooks and podcasts. "Latin music has been a huge hit on iTunes and now we're bringing music fans even more of what they love in a dedicated area on the iTunes Store," said Eddy Cue, Apple's VP of iTunes, in a press release.
In a related press release, Apple also announced new shows from Telemundo (iTS link) and bilingual programming from their youth-oriented mun2 network (iTS link). Latin TV shows, telenovelas and reality content are all now available in the iTunes Store as well, rounding up what looks like a strong new offering for Apple's darling content store.

Great, iTunes Latino. Now all we need is being able to buy stuff from iTunes from Latin America... :(

I hope to see sections targetted towards Asian, Indian and Black Americans soon.
It seems like everyone's country got switched somehow. Mine was switched to the Swiss iTunes site. Very weird indeed!

November 01 2006 at 1:08 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnybody else in the US experiencing weirdness with the iTMS today? For some reason I'm getting a version with all the prices listed in "Fr" (French Francs, I'm assuming?). Although all the text is still in English, the content is very obviously European (the #2 "Top Album" is "Fly" by Zucchero, and #3 is a collection of Roxette's greatest hits). Most of the comments are in either French or German. Maybe I'm getting the Swiss site?
