New Leopard Build Introduces New Feature, Tweaks
The latest build of Leopard, (9A303) introduced some small but nifty features to the list of enhancements that will ship with the new OS next year. Lets take a look:- QuickLook is a new feature which allows users to view a full size preview of any image by right clicking on it, without having to open up the full Preview application.
- The workflow for creating Dashboard Web Clips has changed. Instead of having to first open Dashboard, users can now create Web Clips directly within Safari.
- When connecting a new external storage device, Leopard will ask you if would like to use the drive as a Time Machine backup drive.
- The Spaces switching dialog is now a glossy black.
Small news, but news none the less, and we'll take anything we can get until we see some new announcements from Mr. Jobs himself.

Re: Quicklook, can you not already do this in tiger? i often right-click a group of images i have selected, and then choose "view slideshow" (or sumthing - i am at work on a PC so dont have the info right in front of me), which gives a full-size preview of all the images without having to open the Preview app. Quicklook sounds highly similar... happy thanks giving from NZ anyway

I hope they change the aesthetics of the Spaces panel before Leopard is released. The current glossy black style is heavy and gaudy looking.

What they need to add is thumbnail previews in the open dialog boxes for images.
I know this is (kind of) achievable in column view, but that only lets you see one image at a time.

@Mr Lizard
Alrighty, do this:
1) Right click in an open window
2) Choose "Show View Options"
3) set to "All Windows"
4) Check the box next to "Show Icon Preview"
5) ...
6) ...
7) Profit!

QuickLook not only shows images, but also pdfs, movies and "front row style" music previews in a scalable window - afaik ;)

Wow, the quick preview is something that I have been wanting for a long time.

As an average home user, what are the extras I get from Tiger (compare to 10.3 Panther)? Only one thing: Spot Light, and that's some basic

RE: Time Machine -- I hope it doesn't ask you every time you connect an external drive. That would be way annoying. Matter of fact, I don't think it should ask at all -- it should instead just have the command in the pop-up menu when you ctl-click the drive's icon. Asking every time sounds like something Windows would do (always wrongly anticipating what a user wants to do).
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,

Another nice feature, while not new to this build:
If you make a screenshot of a window (Apple-Control-4 plus the spacebar to toggle the camera), the result is a .png containing the window with transparent drop shadow, rather than just the flat window. That's the kind of freakiness that makes Apple Apple.

now i totally misread this title as 'New feature, Tweaks' and was thinking 'wow, i wonder what 'Tweaks' might be'
I had some pretty cool ideas till i realised my error.
the shame.

Quicklook has been in Leopard Developer Previews since WWDC Day 1 and is even mentioned in the Mac OS X Leopard Spotlight Page as an extension to Spotlight...

I'm still missing secret slides that blow me away. This has a pretty big 'meh' factor.

Check Appleinsider's explanations.
Leopard should only ask "the first time" a drive is attached if you want it to be used for time machine.
These are welcome features. Now, if only they moved the spotlight window to the middle of the screen, like quicksilver, I would be happy. I don't focus well on the top right corner when quickly searching or launching an app.

My one-button mouse doesn't right-click. You've moved to a different brand mouse. Traitor.

Okay, an option to have a different placement for spotlight input. Options are good, at least. I guess I can stick with Quicksilver, since it does things better, IMHO.
Better?

I highly doubt this is it. Why would apple show their cards now? I know we are all dying to see what features they are keeping secret, but all this stuff will be the interesting stuff steve will have no time to talk about during the keynote. We won't see the BIG new stuff coming till January, not in any builds till after Mac world. This being said I like these little features.
Liquidmark - I think Mr Lizard means in the Open Dialogue box, not just in finder.
Mr Lizard - I feel your pain, but I have been using Adobe Bridge for a lot of my workflow and thankfully, that's one of Bridge's features. You can switch to the Adobe Dialogue when you open a file in any adobe program. There's a button labeled "Use Adobe Dialogue" when you hit Command - O.
